To weave consistently 🌿
I remember clearly the morning I went into labour with her: it had started in the night, and at dawn I still rolled out my mat and sat down to my daily practice, albeit a simplified version: my breath and focus became the rhythms that kept me together over the hours to come. I hadn’t missed a day’s practice in years, nor did I that day, nor have I since.
Today it’s her job to blow out the candle when practice is done. I’m up at 4am (or 3:15am if I teach a morning class). And she usually wakes and joins me towards the end. She pulls up her cushion, a Bali sarong, and settles in until I’m done, right next to my mat. And somehow, intuitively, she has never interrupted the process. She’s also watched it evolve into one where the seated portion exceeds the rest. Where through intense grief, intense sickness, and busy schedules, Practice still happens.
These girls are growing up understanding the value in yoga being more than just something we do with our bodies twice a week: it can be the very foundations from where we live each day. As regular as brushing teeth or making warm Weetbix with honey: it’s how we connect with ourselves, with God, and how we align and realign with where we are going in life. And you can absolutely do it in your pyjamas.
Imagine a generation of calm, clear, aligned, self-healing, and self-empowered humans looking to support and contribute the best of themselves to the world? I think something that great needs to begin with a daily meeting with the Self, no matter what. ❤️🔥
“Sutra 1.14: स तु दीर्घकाल नैरन्तर्य सत्कारा असेवितो दृढभूमिः Practice becomes firmly established only when attended for a long time unceasingly and with devotion.”
