🏆 AHTA Founder's Award 2025 🏆

Our Accredited Hand Therapist Lauren Miller has had the enormous honour of receiving the Australian Hand Therapy Association Founder's Award for 2025, for her contributions to Hand Therapy ✋, and presented the Founder's Lecture detailing her career highlights 🌠so far at this year's annual conference. Well done Lauren!

Lauren would like to extend a big thank you to the AHTA, to her family for all their love and support 💗, to Tracey Clark and Kylie Flynn for the award nomination, to Elaine Leahy and Leith Nicholson for these images 📷, to Clare Maple-Brown for her career-long friendship, and to all the Hand Therapists and Surgeons who have helped her throughout her career 🙏.

🏙 Conference Time 🎉
We're heading to the annual conference of the Australian Hand Therapy Association this long weekend. This year, the conference is being held right here at the Convention Centre on the beautiful Gold Coast 🌊 with the theme "Patient-focused care in a rapidly changing world" - an important topic!

Along with a dedicated team of volunteer members of the conference organising committee, Dr Lauren Miller has helped to create a jam-packed program - the latest research, innovative techniques, and cutting-edge hand therapy skills ✋🏼 will be presented.

🧐 Dorsal wrist ganglion research 🙌

Dr Lauren Miller, our accredited hand therapist, is teaming up with other researchers from around the globe 🌎 including lead researcher Dr Thuy Tran (WA), as well as Ms Julianne Howell (USA), Dr Nico Magni (NZ) and Dr Melissa Hirth (VIC) to investigate how hand therapists assess and treat dorsal wrist ganglions.

At Bond University this week - teaching the Doctor of Physiotherapy students. We cover hand and wrist anatomy, assessment and treatment over a couple of days.

A big thank you to Assistant Professor Kevin Kemp-Smith who co-ordinates the program, and the whole teaching team including Assistant Professors Emma Murray (pictured), Rowan Pickering and Luke McCarron as well as Adrian Kan for their assistance with the workshops.

We focus on assessment and treatment techniques for the hand and wrist within case studies, and how to apply clinical reasoning in different situations. I am always inspired by the Bond students!
