Get to know Jacob…

Jacob is a physiotherapist trained in foot mobilisation therapy.

He looks at the biomechanical structure of the foot and how it moves, contracts and works efficiently.

Where other clinics might use only orthotics to treat foot conditions, he likes to take a manual therapy approach to move the joints into a better position to aid in movement and reduction in pain, particularly for conditions such as plantar fasciitis.

❤️ Diabetes and toe nail care ❤️

If you have diabetes, toe nail care needs extra attention as diabetes can affect sensation (neuropathy), circulation and wound healing.

This means a small cut while trimming nails can go unnoticed and could develop into a serious infection.

We commonly see in people with diabetes, ingrown toe nails, infected nail edges, skin breakdown from sharp corners, ulcers developing from minor trauma.

Regular podiatry nail care helps reduce risk and keeps your feet monitored for early warning signs. Preventative care is always easier than treating complications.

If you have diabetes, routine foot checks should be part of your health plan. We generally recommend high-risk patients should have their nails professionally cut every 6 – 8 weeks for routine maintenance.
