"Had arrived from Melbourne on Saturday and my start started to become sick Sunday evening couldn’t keep anything down.
Decide that he wasn’t really picking up by Tuesday so I booked an online appt and was seen on time. The doctor was very attentive and thorough. Would definitely go back there if we were here again."

Mental health is often misunderstood, which can make it harder for people to seek the support they need.

Let’s break down a few common myths:

Myth: You have to be in crisis to seek help
Fact: Early support can make a significant difference

Myth: Mental health conditions are a sign of weakness
Fact: They are real medical conditions that deserve care

Myth: It will pass on its own
Fact: Professional support can help you better understand and manage symptoms

Looking after your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If something doesn’t feel right, it’s okay to reach out.

At Broadbeach Medical Centre & Gold Coast Women’s Health, our GPs are here to support you with compassionate, confidential care.

Recent heavy rain and flooding across parts of Queensland have increased the risk of melioidosis, a bacterial infection found in soil and muddy water.

While uncommon, it can become serious, particularly for those with underlying health conditions such as diabetes, lung or kidney disease, or weakened immunity.

Simple steps can help reduce your risk:
• Avoid contact with floodwater or mud where possible
• Wear protective footwear and gloves when cleaning up
• Cover any cuts with waterproof dressings
• Wash hands thoroughly after exposure

If you develop symptoms like fever, cough, or a wound that becomes red or sore after exposure, it’s important to seek medical advice and mention possible contact with floodwater.

Staying informed and taking precautions can help protect you and your family.

This March, many Australians are taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave to raise funds and awareness for blood cancer research and support.

Whether you’re shaving, colouring, donating or cheering someone on, every effort helps make a difference for individuals and families impacted by leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

It’s also a reminder of the importance of regular health checks and speaking with your GP if you notice ongoing fatigue, unusual bruising, unexplained weight loss or persistent symptoms.

Supporting awareness. Supporting our community. 💛

March is also Melanoma Awareness Month, a timely reminder here in Queensland where UV levels remain high.

Melanoma is one of the most common cancers in Australia, but early detection significantly improves outcomes. Keep an eye out for new or changing moles, spots that look different from others, or lesions that don’t heal.

A routine skin check is a simple but important step in protecting your health.

Stay sun safe and book your skin check with us at (07) 5531 6344
