Homestead utility customers beware.
Is the City collecting unauthorized fees to pay for their excessive spending and questionable hirings?
After Assistant City Manager Brown implemented a new system some customers have been complaining of being auto billed several times in a one month with no refunds.
According to the customer Homestead has no response for this glitch but issues credits and get this, still does unauthorized billing after credits.
Kamar Brown has an adverse background of being investigated at her old government employment for unauthorized spending, allegedly resigning in the process.
“This is just an FYI if you have homestead Utilities. CHECK YOUR DIRECT DEBIT. They have double debited my account for several months since November 2025.They’re taking out 2 payments back to back, and when I contacted them, they had no explanation as to why they were doing it. They said they cannot return any money, they can only credit me for future months billings. For example, my April bill was 50.96, they took that out of my account and then for whatever reason, they did another withdrawal for 108.56 with no explanation. Now they say my May and June months will be paid in advance, I say that’s bull crap. Please check your accounts neighbors.” - Homestead customer
