If you swirled together beauty, creativity, colour, imagination, curiosity, ancient pharaoh, a sprinkle of magic and patchwork quilt with a bird - I think you’d create a Golden Pheasant. We are lucky enough to have been able to introduce this pair - Dragon & Coco to the therapy pod community. Mohjoe, deeply connects with his humans. I have witnessed so many powerful therapeutic moments with Mohjoe showing up in session.

We never force our horses to engage in session, they can choose to leave at any time. The majority of our work is without halters and primarily relational.

We often get enquires asking if we do ridden work? No - it’s all sessions are on the ground.

And even then, we are not teaching you how to be a horse wrangler (we will teach you safety). Equine Assisted Therapy - is still therapy. Our equine partners in the process can be great supports with exploring emotional regulation (co regulation and self regulation), congruence (how often do we mask - with our outsides not matching our insides), attachment, connection, belonging and boundaries.

If you are looking for more hands on, you may want to consider Equine Assisted Learning (EAL is different to therapy - practitioners can be found via directory) or riding lessons.

Every practitioner works differently, you may find some that work with the horses more directly than others. As long as the horse welfare & human safety is primary consideration, there is no right or wrong way for an equine assisted therapy session to unfold. What a session can look like vary greatly depending on the practitioner, the client and the horse.
