New guidelines are well intentioned, but as parents of babies know, finding time to look after yourself is impossible, says Guardian columnist Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett

Endometriosis is real. Dismissing it as “made up” isn’t just incorrect—it’s harmful. These are the faces of people living with endometriosis as a reality, each and every day.

When a public figure with a platform spreads misinformation, it has real consequences. It fuels stigma, invalidates the experiences of those living with this debilitating disease, and undermines the tireless efforts of advocates, researchers, and the endometriosis community who have fought to have this condition taken seriously.

Endometriosis can cause excruciating pain, infertility, multiple surgeries, and significant impacts on both mental and physical health. It takes an average of 6-8 years to receive a diagnosis—partly because of the very stigma that comments like this reinforce.

We call for a public apology and a commitment to education on the reality of endometriosis. Words matter. Misinformation has consequences. It’s time for accountability and respect.

To our community: We see you. We hear you. We stand with you.

And we are a little shocked how, in 2025, we are actually needing to call out something as disrespectful as this. Do better

The APA and Australasian Birth Trauma Association - ABTA applaud the NSW Select Committee on Birth Trauma report on its recommendation for physiotherapy to treat birth injuries. The report recognises the multifaceted impact of birth trauma and the critical importance of pelvic health physiotherapy for birthing parents in antenatal care.

‘It is pleasing the Select Committee has called on the NSW Government to fund physiotherapy postpartum services to support those who acquire a pelvic floor injury during childbirth,’ said leading women’s health physiotherapist and APA Board director Catherine Willis, who gave evidence at the inquiry hearing.

‘If accepted by the NSW Government, this is an opportunity for strong health reform leadership with the potential to have broader implications nationally,’ Ms Willis said.

If you’re waking up with a headache or feeling pain behind your ears more regularly than you should be, chances are your jaw might be to blame. As crazy as it sounds, having someone massage the inside of your mouth might just be the solution.

Finding an appropriate healthcare professional to help manage an athlete's return to sport postpartum can be tricky, particularly at an amateur level.

Some solid advice 👌 💩 😉

A Jedi must always avoid using force on the dark side when nature calls! 🚽

Some health conditions like constipation may cause you to strain to pass a bowel movement. Regularly straining on the toilet can cause other health complications, like haemorrhoids.

To reduce the frequency of hard stools and constipation, it's important to drink lots of water, eat fibre-rich foods, exercise regularly and poo in the correct position (yes, it's a thing!).

For a smoother experience, when seated, you should:
💩 Sit with your knees higher than your hips (try using a footstool).
💩 Put elbows to knees and lean forward with a straight back.
💩 Relax and bulge out your stomach.

This sitting position angles your body so the re**al muscle is relaxed, creating a clearer, straighter passage for stool to exit.

If you feel you're using the force a little too frequently on the toilet, please consult your doctor.
