We all experience some type of food craving from time to time, so hereโs a quick tip on the โ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ปโ strategy!
For example, itโs 3pm and you would normally go and grab some chips from the vending machine, cafe or cupboard. Instead of just giving in ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ, set yourself a goal of delaying gratification for 15 minutes, or longer if you can. In that 15 minutes you can drink water, go for a walk, stretch, do some push ups or squats, a chore, or just get busy. What you may find is that 15 minutes later the craving is gone (or itโs far less intense), which can then lead to a healthier choice of snack.
Now if 15 minutes later you choose to eat those chips, then at least youโve practiced the habit of delaying gratification. Practicing this habit will have ebbs and flows and sometimes youโll get a great outcome, sometimes maybe not, but keep at it and youโll see improvement.
