The world feels like a lot at the moment.
Between the news, cost of living, work, parenting, relationships... it can feel like there’s just no off switch. A lot of people I speak with are carrying this constant, low-level feeling of overwhelm.
So how do we actually look after ourselves in the middle of that? It’s more about small, doable things that help settle your nervous system and give you a bit of space.
Things like:
- Taking a step back from the news or social media when it’s too much
- Building in small moments of calm (a coffee, a walk, 10 quiet minutes)
- Noticing when you’re getting overloaded... and responding earlier
- Staying connected to people who feel safe and supportive
- Being realistic about what balls you have in the air that can be safety dropped.
And honestly, giving yourself permission to not be okay all the time.
We’re living in a time that asks a lot of us. Looking after yourself isn’t selfish, it’s necessary.
If you’re feeling stretched, overwhelmed, or just not quite like yourself, you’re not alone and support is available.
