🧠 World Mental Health Day — October 10th 🇦🇺
Today is a reminder that mental health is a universal human right. 💚

No matter who you are, where you live, or what you’re facing — your mental health matters.
Take a moment today to pause, breathe, and check in with yourself.
Reach out if you need support — or simply ask someone how they’re really going.

Small conversations can make big changes. 💭

🧡 Myth: “Autistic people don’t want social connection.”
✨ Reality: Many autistic people deeply value friendship and belonging — their social needs are often misunderstood, not absent.

Research shows that differences in communication styles, sensory environments, and biases from others often create barriers to connection — not a lack of interest. When environments are supportive and communication differences are respected, autistic people thrive socially.

Let’s shift the focus from “fixing” autistic people to adapting how we connect. Small changes can make a big difference 🤝🌿

🌿 Meet Damian Vann – Clinical Psychologist at Mind on Health 🌿

Damian is a compassionate and experienced Clinical Psychologist who works with people across the lifespan. He is passionate about supporting clients through challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, medically unexplained symptoms, and emotional distress. He also has extensive experience providing safe, affirming, and supportive care for the LGBTIQAP+ community.

Damian primarily practices Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) – an evidence-based approach that helps people connect with and process feelings that may have been suppressed or blocked because they felt too painful or overwhelming. By addressing and resolving these emotions, ISTDP empowers clients to reduce anxiety and unhelpful patterns, fostering deeper emotional freedom and resilience.

In addition, he also draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy, tailoring his approach to each individual’s needs.

He is committed to creating a collaborative, warm, safe, and respectful therapeutic space, where clients can better understand themselves and build long-term wellbeing.

Damian is available for appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at our Parkwood clinic, Gold Coast. His goal is to ensure every client feels truly understood, respected, and supported in making meaningful and lasting change. 💙

✨ Monday Reminder ✨

Productivity isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is pause, breathe, and allow yourself to rest. 🌿

This week, give yourself permission to slow down when you need it. Rest isn’t laziness—it’s fuel for your mind, body, and soul. 💫

When anxiety takes over, it can feel hard to catch your breath or slow down your thoughts. Grounding techniques are gentle, practical tools that bring you back into the present moment and help your body find calm again. 🌿

With regular practice, these strategies can become a reassuring part of your toolkit — helping you feel steadier and more in control when anxiety shows up.

💛 Today is R U OK? Day 💛

A reminder that a simple conversation can change a life. Asking “Are you OK?” might feel small, but it can make a big difference for someone who is struggling.

You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need to:
✔️ Ask the question
✔️ Listen with care
✔️ Encourage action
✔️ Check in

Let’s break the stigma, build connection, and remind each other that it’s OK to not be OK — and support is always available. 🌼

🌟 A Huge Congratulations to Dr Victoria Hambour! 🌟

We’re bursting with pride (and maybe cake 🍰) to announce that Dr Victoria Hambour has officially been clinically endorsed as a Clinical Psychologist! 🎉👏

This is no small feat — it’s the result of years of hard work, dedication, and the kind of passion for helping others that makes us all want to lift our therapy chairs in salute 🪑🙌.

Victoria’s endorsement means she’s levelled up in the psychology world — and while her skills are now even more elite, we promise she’s still the same warm, compassionate, and slightly cheeky teammate we know and love. 💛

Please join us in celebrating this massive achievement… and if you see her around, feel free to bow, curtsy, or at least offer her first dibs on the office snacks. 🥳
