Building the future of dentistry in SA, together 🇦🇺🤝

This past Saturday, we held a dedicated workshop at ADA SA House for our ADC Candidates. It was a day filled with shared experiences, practical learning and meaningful connection.

Beyond targeted sessions on Infection Control, Therapeutic Guidelines, and Effective Communication, this forum was about listening. We sat down with those navigating the ADC to hear their feedback and ensure that ADA SA continues to develop the support and training they need.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed. We are thrilled to see the talented group of dental professionals as they shape their careers in SA.

Many thanks for Tjimari Sanderson-Milera from Bookabee Australia for facilitating our Aboriginal Cultural Sensitivity & Respect Training. With a full house of engaged Members and their Teams, we dove deep into how cultural competence isn't just a professional standard - it’s the foundation of exceptional patient care.

Highlights from the session included:

The future of South Australian dentistry is in safe hands🤝✨

This week we kicked off our 2026 Mentorship Program with the first workshop. Facilitated by Dr Ashby from Shepherds Hill Dental Centre. It was a fantastic evening of connection, as our BDS 5 Mentees sat down with their Mentors to begin their journey together.

From clinical "pearls of wisdom" to navigating those first few months after graduation, these partnerships are all about ensuring no new dentist has to walk their path alone.

We can’t wait to see these relationships grow over the coming year!

1️⃣ Healthier Smiles Community Service Grants ($13,000): Funding for dentists and dental students leading projects that improve oral health for vulnerable communities.
2️⃣ First Nations Study Grants ($5,000): Financial support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students of Oral Health Therapy or Dental Hygiene.

These grants empower our profession to reach further and support those who need it most.

A full house for a masterclass in Implant Restoration🦷✨

What an incredible turnout for our recent workshop, it was fantastic to see so many of Members gathered to level up their clinical workflows, from single units right through to full-arch restorations.

A massive thank you to our local experts, Dr Edward Pitts and Dr Nicholas Wood, for sharing their invaluable insights on implant density and restorative precision. Having such high-calibre talent right here in South Australia is what makes our community so strong.

Patient record requests aren’t always as straightforward as they seem 🦷📋

Under current privacy legislation, dentists are required to respond to a patient's request for records within 30 days (or less where possible). But do you know who is legally entitled to make that request?
