Meet Dr Miranda Say - Clinical Neuropsychologist with specialist interests in dementia, neuroimmunology and movement disorders. She has extensive expertise in neuropsychological assessment for the purposes of diagnosis and guiding rehabilitation. She has particular expertise in the assessment of decision-making capacity, especially in medico-legal contexts. She is trained to offer psychological and cognitive therapies, including family therapy for those with chronic illness.

Dr Say completed her doctoral training at the world-renowned Queen Square, University College London (Institute of Neurology). She then worked clinically in an NHS dementia service. Since moving to Australia, she has held a public appointment at Concord Hospital, working in general neurology with a special involvement in young-onset and genetic dementias.

Dr Say has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, and she has co-authored a widely-renowned cognitive rehabilitation manual. Her research has won awards both locally and internationally.

Meet Dr Sanjay Swaminathan - Clinical Immunologist.

He graduated from Monash University in 1998 and obtained his specialist qualifications in clinical immunology after training in sites in Sydney and Adelaide. Along with Dr Christine Younan, he started a combined ophthalmology and immunology clinic at Westmead Hospital in 2014 that specialised in looking after patients with complex inflammatory eye disorders (mostly uveitis). His clinical interests span a range of autoimmune and allergic disorders.

Meet A/Prof. Jamma Li - Clinical Immunologist and Allergist with an interest in inflammatory eye disease. She is a Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital, and has co-founded the new joint immuno-ophthalmology service with A/Prof. Samantha Fraser-Bell.

A/Prof. Li has published widely in peer reviewed journals and authored multiple book chapters in clinical immunology. She has continuing research interests at Royal North Shore Hospital and the Kolling Institute.

Meet A/Prof. Samantha Fraser-Bell - Medical Retinal and Uveitis Specialist.

Her expertise is in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the macula and retina, particularly age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion and inflammatory eye disease.

She is a chief investigator for many clinical medical retinal trials at the Macular Research Unit, at the Save Sight Institute including trials in macular degeneration, diabetic macular oedema and retinal vein occlusion. She is an Associate Professor in the discipline of ophthalmology at University of Sydney, and a Consultant Medical Retinal subspecialist at the Royal North Shore and Sydney Eye Hospitals.

He graduated from the University of Sydney and completed his training in ophthalmology at Sydney Eye Hospital. He then undertook further training in retinal diseases at St Thomas’ Hospital, London.

Meet Dr Carolyn Ross - a comprehensive ophthalmologist specialising in cornea, cataract surgery, and paediatric eye care. She treats conditions such as keratoconus and Fuchs’ Endothelial Dystrophy, and holds senior roles at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Meet Dr Richard Parker - a specialist ophthalmologist, sub-specialising in oculoplastic (eyelid, lacrimal and orbital) surgery. He treats a wide range of oculoplastic conditions, including heavy and droopy eyelids (blepharoplasty and ptosis), eyelid malposition, cancers of the eyelids and surface of the eye, facial nerve palsy, blepharospasm, dry eyes, watery eyes (including external and endonasal DCR surgery), and orbital surgery including thyroid eye disease, orbital inflammation, and orbital tumours. Dr Parker also manages general ophthalmic conditions and performs cataract surgery (including multifocal and extended-depth of focus intraocular lenses) and pterygium surgery. He is involved with multidisciplinary teams for managing patients with complex conditions, particularly cancers around the orbit.

Dr Parker treats private patients at a variety of locations around Sydney and NSW. He treats public patients at RNSH. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer for USYD, coordinating the Ophthalmic Anatomy unit of the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) program. He examines ophthalmology trainees in the OBCK examination for RANZCO and is involved in the training of registrars at RNSH.

Meet Dr Sophia Zagora - specialising in the management of medical retina, inflammatory disorders of the eye, glaucoma and cataract. These include the most common causes of visual loss: macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinal vein occlusion.

Dr Zagora is a Consultant Eye Surgeon Staff Specialist at Sydney Eye Hospital; and Uveitis Consultant at Westmead Children’s Hospital; as well as Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney.

As a Clinical Academic, Dr Zagora has published widely in peer-reviewed ophthalmic journals and has an ongoing interest in clinical research. She is actively involved as an investigator in clinical trials to treat uveitis and blinding retinal conditions.

Meet Professor Clare Fraser - specialising in neuro-ophthalmology and strabismus.

She completed her ophthalmic training at Sydney Eye Hospital and neuro-ophthalmic training at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurology, London. She completed a Research Fellowship at Emory Eye Centre, Atlanta and was a consultant neuro-ophthalmologist for Moorfields Eye Hospital and King's College Hospital, London.

Prof Fraser is now a Professor at the University of Sydney and Macquarie University, and consults at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney Eye Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital.

Meet Dr Claire Hooper - medical retina and uveitis specialist.

Dr Hooper has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disorders and inflammatory conditions of the eye (uveitis and scleritis).

Dr Hooper is a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney and affiliated with Save Sight Institute, University of Sydney. She is also Section Editor for the Clinical & Experimental Ophthalmology. Dr Hooper has been involved in clinical trials for macular degeneration and published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and co-written three book chapters.
