Communiteer

Communiteer Communiteer is a crowdsourcing platform that connects, engages and mobilises volunteers. The answer is collaboration.

At Communiteer, we want to use technology as a force for good to create a more equitable, humane and prosperous society. CEO, Victor Lee, found working within the not-for-profit space the urgent need for skilled volunteers to build capacity. Co-founder Vincent Feng knew the other side; the challenge of finding the right volunteering opportunity, matching skillset and values. In 2018, it all began

with an idea; a one-stop-shop for businesses, not-for-profits and individuals to collaborate through digital technology. Since January 2019, that mission has expanded rapidly. We’re entering a new age, where virtual environments are essential to transcend borders, create resource sustainability and build a sense of continuity. We are here to connect not-for-profits with the corporate partners, people and the skills they need to make a difference while providing businesses the opportunity to venture further into the social impact space.

"I’m excited to share another meaningful volunteering opportunity supported by Communiteer. This opportunity has been incredible.

The 2024 Sydney Harbour Hike (Bondi to Bridge) - Finish Line Volunteer: Assist with general operations at the finish line such as handing out medals/ gift bags to finishers, directing patrons, and ensuring that all participants enter the finish area via the finish chute.

Volunteering at the 2024 Sydney Harbour Hike, organized by The Fred Hollows Foundation is a deeply rewarding experience that allows me to support an inspiring cause while growing personally. Being there to encourage participants as they complete the 34k hike not only lifts their spirits but also gains lots of powerful energy, as I connect with each hiker and share in their sense of achievement.

I’m grateful for this opportunity provided by The Fred Hollows Foundation to engage with Australia’s outdoor activity culture in such a meaningful way. Witnessing the dedication of the participants and celebrating their efforts with them is truly inspiring, creating lasting memories and fostering both community spirit and personal growth.

A big thank you to Communiteer and UNSW Business School for making these experiences possible and to everyone involved for their support.

🎉 Celebrating the international education sector! 🎉

Wednesday night, the Communiteer team had the privilege of attending the International Education Awards, hosted by Study NSW and the NSW Government.

Every year, this night is a powerful reminder of the vibrant energy and immense value that international students bring to the NSW community. From cultural exchange to social impact, these students are not just building their future—they’re shaping the future of NSW.

We’re proud to deliver our International Student Volunteering Program with Study NSW, empowering international students to connect, contribute, and thrive through meaningful volunteering opportunities.

A huge congratulations to all the nominees and winners who inspire us with their dedication and achievements! And, a special thank you to our wonderful volunteers who helped out on the night 💚

I am glad to be a volunteer who can help international students and others at the Sydney International Airport.

As a volunteer at Welcome Desk, I welcomed and gave answers for arriving international students. I usually directs them to bus and taxi zones, as well as introducing them to activities and life in Sydney.

Through this experience, I learned how to effectively communicate with travellers from diverse cultural backgrounds, and I improved my problem-solving skills.

Helping new international students was meaningful because I was able to make them feel ease in Sydney.

Last week, Communiteer joined the Sydney International Business Competition (SIBC) to participate as one of the case organisations. The energy was contagious!

At Communiteer, it's part of our DNA to provide young people opportunities to bring fresh, unique and innovative ideas to solving complex business and social challenges.

Each team brought forward ideas that challenged conventional thinking and highlighted the importance of collaboration, creativity, and critical analysis.

Their efforts not only enriched the competition but also provided Communiteer with a wealth of insights and potential strategies to explore in addressing complex business and social issues.

A big thank you to the University of Sydney Business School and Sydney Consulting Club - SCC for including us in such an incredible event!

I’m grateful to meet a group of amazing volunteers and leaders 🥰

Volunteering is a chance to develop skills, like problem-solving and communication, in real-world scenarios. I still remember my first day helping a student to find a shuttle bus. While I led her to the pick-up location, I found she was UNSW student either and we talked a lot about uni life.

Receiving a Volunteer Recognition Award has been a great honour. I'm immensely grateful to the entire team and leaders I met. And I want especially to thank Shevaun Lim for her encouragement and support. Thank you for being kind and helpful for everyone!

Volunteering has enhanced my professional growth and expanded my network in ways I had never imagined. To anyone considering volunteering – go for it 🙌

The impact it has on you and those you help is immeasurable🌟

We're excited to share Communiteer's case study featured in the 8th issue of the Transform Journal from Engagement Australia✨

"Leveraging Volunteering for a Holistic Student Experience" delves into the research, development and co-design process our team underwent to create volunteering programs that meet the needs of the student journey and the community.

Through volunteering, students can cultivate a deep sense of civic responsibility, empathy, and social consciousness. The social, economic, and wellbeing benefits of student volunteering create a virtuous cycle of positive outcomes for governments, universities, and communities.

By recognising and supporting student volunteering initiatives, stakeholders can collectively leverage the transformative power of volunteering to build stronger, more resilient societies and empower the next generation of leaders and change-makers.

Thank you to the team Engagement Australia for including Communiteer in this issue and your ongoing support!

We'd like to also thank our collaborators whose activities inform this case study, including Study NSW, UNSW Business School, and UTS Business for believing in the power of volunteering to support community engagement practices.

And of course, the hundreds of incredible student volunteers who shared with us their stories and feedback, turned up to support community organisations and shared their experiences to encourage their friends to get involved!
