Congratulations Mark Louie-Johnsun on his 100th da Vinci robotic surgery! We’re thrilled to provide so many patients with access to this surgical technology.

The latest stage in the Gosford Private Hospital robotics program was launched in August 2021 with the arrival of the da Vinci Xi Surgical System, the most advanced and widely used surgical robot in the market. Robotic surgery is one of the least invasive ways to operate and provides enhanced visualisation and control.

Curious as to how the da Vinci works?

The da Vinci system translates the surgeon’s hand movements at the console in real time, bending and rotating the instruments while performing the procedure. The tiny wristed instruments move like a human hand, but with a greater range of motion. The da Vinci vision system also delivers highly magnified, 3D high-definition views of the surgical area. The instrument size makes it possible for surgeons to operate through one or a few small incisions.

We are proud to offer robotic surgery for select urology, gynaecology, colorectal and general surgeries.

I am excited to be a part of this new era on the Central Coast and Gosford Private Hospital with the DaVinci Robotic technology.
To date we have successfully treated 22 patients with prostate cancer in 3 months with this minimally invasive technology and will continue to expand this service in the future.

Was great to lead this multicentre Australian study published in World Journal of Urology collaborating with 6 other Australian centres providing contemporary Australian evidence that transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy (TRUS) remains a more than acceptable method of diagnosing prostate cancer with very low infective complications.

No doubt the funds will benefit in the education and support of Central Coast men with prostate cancer.

A huge thank you to everyone that took part in the Bay to Bay Running Festival yesterday. The combined team from Gosford Private Hospital and Brisbane Waters Private Hospital again took out the award for Largest Team Participation, with over 160 registered runners.

Thanks to the efforts of all the team who helped raise awareness for Men's Health Week, particularly the work of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue.

Through the donations collected, and a superb effort by Dr. Mark Louie-Johnsun, we will soon be making a donation of just over $4,500 to help support the work of the local Prostate Cancer Support Group.
