We love seeing this annual activity run by the fabulous team at Gosford Private Maternity Services
Our very own Penny at Intuition Private Obstetrics & Gynaecology was there to provide a helping hand also.

"These kits will go to birthing attendants and nurses in low resource countries to help prevent infection and deaths during birth. Each year more than 300,000 women (mostly from developing countries) die from childbirth, many from preventable infections. So these kits can literally be a life saver. We are especially proud of the team who on this day are planning to create hundreds of birthing kits which will be sent to nurses and birthing attendants in developing countries. These kits will to help prevent infection and deaths during birth and include a plastic sheet, a sterile blade, gloves, clean cord ties, gauze and soap. To keep the team in high spirits, they've been spoilt with a morning tea of sweet treats from Cakes By Kyla.

Chances are you know a family member, friend or colleague that has experienced the heartbreak of early pregnancy loss. Perhaps it’s even happened to you. It’s common, after all
— research shows 1 in 3 Australians will experience early pregnancy loss.
If you feel like you’re at a loss of what to say, you’re not alone. Many people resort to saying things like, “at least you know you can get pregnant,” or, “at least you have other children.”
It’s Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month this October. If you want some tips on how to talk in a more empathetic way about pregnancy loss, visit www.pinkelephants.org.au

🥰 Thank you Hannah for your lovely feedback! 💚💙

---
I wanted to provide my sincerest feedback to the wonderful staff at your amazing hospital. When I went into labour early with my daughter all my carefully laid plans for my elective C-section went flying out the window.

The staff at your hospital went above and beyond in providing me with the experience of birthing my beautiful daughter in an amazing environment

The anaesthetic nurse (Breanna) Should be so proud of the way she conducts herself and the care she provides for each of her patients she was absolutely incredible and should be commended for the work she does.

The midwives and RNs who provided care for me in the following days cannot be faulted they were attentive and patient and advocated for me when I was in pain. Leanne is an asset to the ward she is grounding and approachable while providing gentle encouragement when needed. What a super star team and a job well done.

Thank you thank you thank you
Hannah, Hus and Norah

In the spirit of NAIDOC week, our maternity ward was gifted a stunning piece of indigenous artwork, which showcases the sacred birthing caves where women would have their babies.

Jodie Freeman, who is a proud Gamilaraay woman, painted the piece and donated it to the ward with a beautiful intention.

“I’ve donated the artwork to emphasise the importance of community surrounding birth, and to promote a culturally safe atmosphere for our indigenous families.” she said.

Jodie also teaches art therapy through her business, ‘Freedom Begins From Within’.

We know that birthing and welcoming a new baby into your lives can be an exciting time that many families would like to share with everyone. We also understand that sometimes our families and their visitors are disappointed when this can't always happen due to our visiting hours.

Please know these visiting hours and restrictions are in place to protect the incredibly vulnerable new lives that have entered our unit as well as our families, staff and doctors. Our staff and team are here to provide support and should never be on the receiving end of abuse or disrespectful behaviour. If you are asked to leave our unit or are not provided with entry, please respect our staff and observe their instructions. Any disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated and individuals will be asked to leave the hospital immediately. Our visiting hours are different to the rest of the hospital and more information can be found via: https://gosfordprivatematernity.com.au/your-stay/visiting-hours

We are 1!
As far as birthdays go, the first one is always a pretty big one and it just so happens that our new Gosford Private Maternity Unit shares its first birthday with the very first baby to be born in the unit! We couldn't imagine a better way to celebrate 12 months of operation for our Gosford Private Maternity Ward than by checking in on Kurt and Cassie and baby Indiana to see how the first year as a family has gone!
According to Cassie the continuity of care post birth and in the weeks following the unit made a difference to them getting off to a good start for them as a family.
"The after care over the first few days as parents was so essential for us, from learning to breastfeed, first bath, even putting in her capsule for the first time," Cassie said.
"The team provided so much support when we needed it most and we would definitely go back to Gosford Private Maternity for our second child."

When it comes to sharing what life is now like for the family Cassie said they don't take anything for granted.
"Life is a rollercoaster but it is a lot smoother and we are enjoying simple things like walks and family time with friends which we don't take for granted anymore after going through lockdown with a newborn. Thank you to the amazing team at Gosford Private Hospital it is such an incredible space for women to have their babies on the Central Coast."
Thanks Kurt and Cassie for sharing and providing this lovely update 12 months on and please join us in wishing Indiana a very happy first birthday!

Thank you to all our staff, our specialists and our families who have made this first year in operation a memorable one for us all!

The new grads have arrived and it’s a vibe! From left to right, Izzy, Perlyn, Brooke and Kate are all excited to start their careers helping families to begin their new lives with us. When it was discovered that Izzy’s start date coincided with her birthday she wasn’t interested in changing it after relocating from Brisbane for her dream role. She shared the following “I couldn’t picture a better way to spend my birthday than doing what I love among people who have such a passion for midwifery,” she said.
Perlyn and Kate have returned to us after having completed their placement here and Brooke has relocated from Newcastle, after completing her placement at John Hunter Hospital. Please join us in welcoming them to the team!

It’s a case of double the love and double the fun for first time parents Emma and Dan with their twin boys Ashton and Tyler. The boys arrived early at 35 weeks and spent some time in the Special Care Nursery under the watchful care of our skilled team. Emma shared “ We can’t wait for them to get a bit bigger so we can take them to gigs and out on the boat for adventures,” she said. After 15 days in our care the pair are now off to begin their new lives as a family

Who says three's a crowd? It's definitely not the case for Tuggerah Lakes Private Hospital Ward Clark Jayde who welcomed her third son, Corbyn David at Gosford Private Maternity Services this week.

This is her third time round birthing at Gosford Private Maternity Services and her first experience in the brand new maternity ward. With two big brothers Nash and Brady excitedly waiting to meet their new baby brother at home, Jayde said she had the best possible start to life with Corbyn while in the care of the Midwifery team and Dr Jini Mandapati.

"This has been the most amazing experience and honestly if I didn't have two boys awaiting their little brother at home, I would have stayed even longer in the comfort and care of this compassionate team.

"From the Midwives through to the catering team who show so much care and kindness, it has been a beautiful and gentle start to life with Corbyn and I couldn't have asked for more."

Congrats Jayde, we wish you all the best on your lives as a new family of five and thanks for choosing to
