The January and February 2025 dates for our Antenatal Classes - Birth and Beyond - are now available. A one-day crash course on the last weeks of pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond, these classes are delivered by our Midwife Educators.

GOSFORD PRIVATE MATERNITY SERVICES TO CLOSE | Private hospital operator Healthe Care has made the difficult decision to cease maternity services at Gosford Private Hospital at the end of March 2025.

The decision is a culmination of declining birth rates, decreasing demand for private maternity services on the Central Coast, increasing cost of living pressures, and challenges with private health insurance funding for private hospitals.

A huge congratulations to our Masters of Midwifery student, Rachelle, who was very busy on Wednesday assisting in the births of 3 babies within one hour! Here she is pictured with proud mums Hannah and baby Mikhael, Emma and baby Olivia, and Nicole and baby Theodore.

Megan and Jordan welcomed their first baby Henry last week, weighing in at a tiny but healthy 2.3kg! After spending just two nights in our Special Care Nursery, Henry was discharged to the Postnatal Ward. He went home wearing the same knitted outfit his mum wore home from hospital when she was born.

IMPORTANT NOTICE | We recognise that having a new baby in the family is a very exciting time, however with the current increase in COVID-19, RSV and Influenza in our local community, we wish to remind everyone of our Visiting times and guidelines for the Maternity Unit. These differ from the rest of the hospital due to the vulnerability of our mums and new babies.

Our Visiting hours are:
⏰10am - 12pm midday AND 3pm - 8pm (the partner/primary support person has no restrictions)
😴12pm - 3pm is a designated quiet time for our new Mums.

✔️ 2 visitors in the room at any time
✔️ Visitors are interchangeable during visiting periods
✔️ Children are restricted to siblings of the baby only (if there is more than one sibling please discuss with staff)
✔️ Strictly no visitors or siblings in Special Care Nursery as these are our most vulnerable babies

We strongly recommend that all visitors are immunised against Whooping Cough, Influenza and COVID-19.

New parents Tiiu and Marcus took home baby Vada yesterday after her smooth arrival into the world last Friday.

Our Birth and Beyond Antenatal Classes provide advice to support you and your partner through pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Running over two consecutive Saturdays, our experienced Midwives will guide you through the stages of pregnancy and labour, and share tips to help prepare you for this exciting transition. Most health funds even cover the cost of registration!

We were excited to have a visit from 9 month old Isabel and her parents Savitree and Sean yesterday. After a bumpy welcome into the world, including 'Special Care' for both Isabel and Savitree, we're delighted to see both of them doing so well!🩵

Amelia and Jared returned to Gosford Private Maternity Services for their second baby girl Hannah. After spending 4 days in the Special Care Nursery, Hannah is now ready for home where big sister Madison is no doubt ready and excited to welcome them both home!

We celebrated a special moment for baby Zadie and her parents Elaine and Paul recently, as Zadie made her way out of the Special Care Nursery.

Delivered by Obstetrician Dr Peta Skilbeck at 34 weeks, Zadie was only 1.64kg and spent 4 weeks growing under the care of our specialist Midwives, before being declared fit for discharge by Paediatrician Dr Shriniwas Chinta and able to finally head home.

This week we celebrated 3 years since the opening of the luxurious new Maternity Ward at Gosford Private Hospital!

Opening in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic had its challenges, however since then our dedicated team have supported over 1,500 families to welcome their newborn into the world!
