🎨 The talented students from Narara Valley High School recently donated four beautiful artworks titled 'Where We Mend' to Gosford Hospital.

Created as part of the students’ International Women’s Day activities, the artworks were gifted as a thoughtful act of service - a way of giving back to the community, spreading kindness beyond the classroom and bringing a moment of joy and connection to our patients, staff and visitors.

The artworks are now proudly displayed in our busy J Block hallway, where they can be enjoyed by everyone who walks past.

Our sincere thanks to the students and their teacher Brenda and to Priscilla our Clinical Support Services Manager, who presented the students with a certificate of appreciation on behalf of Central Coast Health.

We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to the always generous Wyong Hospital Auxiliary for their recent support of clinical education at Wyong Hospital.

The Auxiliary funded vital training equipment for our Clinical Nurse Educators, including:

🩹A laerdal chest training mannequin, which helps train nurses in the safe management of IV lines, including longer-term central lines.
🩸A multi‑venous IV training arm kit for hands‑on practice inserting needles and IV lines.
❤A Lifepack trainer (a practice defibrillator) to allow staff to safely learn how to respond in emergencies.

Members of the Auxiliary recently visited Wyong Hospital for a special donor thank‑you event, where Clinical Nurse Educators Dana and Rosmy demonstrated the new equipment. Erin, Acting Operational Nurse Manager, also shared her appreciation for the Auxiliary’s ongoing generosity in supporting our staff and patients.

Thank you Wyong Hospital Auxiliary for making a meaningful difference to education!👏

The weather's been beautiful on the Coast the past few days so it may be tempting to lay in the sun, but there is nothing healthy about a tan.

Tanning is skin cells in trauma trying to fix the damage from harmful UV radiation.

Make sun safety part of your daily routine - slip, slop, slap, seek, slide.

Your future health will thank you.

This Easter, Gosford Hospital has been filled with smiles, chocolate and plenty of community spirit, thanks to some very special visitors who helped make the season brighter for our patients.

A heartfelt thank you to our generous Easter donors:
🐰Beth, Sarah and Sam from Raine & Horne East Gosford, who visited the children’s ward with the Easter Bunny and plenty of sweet treats.
🐣Volunteers from NSW SES NSW SES - Gosford Unit and NSW SES Wyong Unit who were joined by the ever‑popular Paddy the Platypus, bringing Easter cheer to our youngest patients.
⭐Captain Starlights made a visit, bringing smiles, laughter and fun to kids ward.
🍫And the wonderful NSW National Servicemen’s Association and Affiliates (the Nashos), who this year marked an incredible 28 years of Easter visits, spreading joy and chocolate throughout the hospital - from the children’s ward to maternity, cancer, geriatric and emergency.

Your kindness, time and smiles truly make a difference - not just today, but long after the Easter eggs are gone.

Wishing our patients, staff, donors and community a safe, happy and peaceful Easter ✨

🐰🥕🐣As we head into the long weekend, our Long Jetty Urgent Care Service staff would like to remind everyone to take care and stay safe this Easter.

If you do need medical help, it’s good to know where to go to get the most appropriate care:

For non-life-threatening health concerns, call healthdirect on 1800 022 222. A nurse will answer your call, ask some questions and connect you with the right care for your health needs, which may include a local urgent care service like Long Jetty (for language support, first call TIS on 131 450).

You can also use the online healthdirect Symptom Checker or healthdirect Service Finder at www.healthdirect.gov.au

Our emergency departments are here 24/7 for people needing help for major or life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Call Triple Zero (000) or visit a hospital emergency department immediately if you have chest pressure or pain lasting more than 10 minutes, difficulty breathing, uncontrollable bleeding, sudden collapse or overdose.

Think you're safe because it's cool or cloudy? Think again, UV levels can still be high.

The higher the UV Index, the higher the risk of skin damage.

Before you head out, check the UV Index. If it’s 3 or above, protect your skin:

👕 Slip on protective clothing
☀️ Slop on SPF50+ sunscreen every two hours
👒 Slap on a wide-brimmed hat
🌳 Seek shade
🕶️ Slide on sunnies

Last week our midwifery team celebrated Anne-Maree’s retirement, following an incredible 50 years in healthcare.

Anne-Maree began her career as a nurse at St Vincent’s in Darlinghurst before moving to the Central Coast, working first in theatres and then finding her niche in maternity services.

Her passion for better care led to key initiatives including the Drug and Alcohol Support Program for pregnant women, care planning frameworks for complex pregnancies and the diabetic antenatal clinic at Gosford Hospital.

As a manager, mentor and educator, Anne-Maree has helped shape midwifery across Central Coast Health.

Colleagues say they always know when she’s on shift - her laughter and energy light up the unit.

Congratulations on your retirement, Anne-Maree, and thank you for your extraordinary service 👏💕

During this time, some patients may be moved to different wards.

If you’re planning to visit a friend or family member during this period, please check in at the reception desk on arrival to confirm their current ward location.

You can also call Patient Enquiries on (02) 4320 3248 before visiting.

Thank you for your understanding while we make these improvements.
