💧Children can drown quickly and silently. It can happen in 20 seconds, and in just a few centimetres of water. Sometimes adults are nearby, but distracted.

Keep kids safe this summer:
1. Always supervise children around water.
2. Designate a “Water Watcher” adult and take turns.
3. If you have a pool, make sure there is a fence around it and keep the gate closed.
4. Empty any water from inflatable pools or buckets.
5. Teach water awareness by spending time in the water with your child.
6. Learn how to resuscitate (CPR) in case of emergency.

In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Trainee ED doctors got up close and personal with some snakes and spiders during a training day on toxicology and toxinology.

Experts from the Australian Reptile Park educated doctors about the different types of snake and spider bites they may encounter to inform their training in the investigation and treatment of envenomation (the injection of venom into a person by a venomous creature). They also watched snakes being milked for their venom – a vital ingredient required for antivenom.

All snake bites should be treated as a medical emergency. If someone is bitten by a snake, keep them still, call Triple Zero (000) for an ambulance and apply a pressure immobilisation bandage.

We’ve been blown away by the generosity of our community once again this festive season. A huge thank you to the wonderful locals and groups who have kindly donated this year:

✨ Sarah from – and one of our dedicated nurses – organised another incredible delivery of toys, games, puzzles and gifts for our Gosford and Wyong Emergency Departments, continuing her long tradition of festive donations.

🍰 Kim and the team at Gettin’ Baked in Umina ran a festive toy drive with their staff and customers. Their cheerful donation will certainly help spread some magic this holiday season.

🧸 Rosemary, a long‑time supporter of our Kids’ Ward and Maternity services, kindly donated toys and clothing for our Maternity Unit at Gosford Hospital. Her ongoing generosity means so much.

🎁Justine - an Anaesthetic Nurse from Gosford Theatres - and her daughter Portia donated toys, gifts and gift cards for our Children’s Ward and Paediatric Services. Justine collected donations through a toy drive with her colleagues in Anaesthetic Nursing, and friends in the Central Coast Outrigger Canoe Club, and the ACCA Dragon Boat Racing Team (Sydney).

🎄And Little Leaders, along with the families who took part in the Christmas Fun Day at Kincumber High School, organised a toy drive, donating a wonderful collection of gifts for our Kids' ward.

We’re incredibly thankful for everyone who has taken the time to support our patients and families this year. Your generosity makes such a difference. 💙

Our community continues to wrap our patients in kindness this festive season, and we’re so grateful for the generous support from these wonderful locals:

✨ Matt, Sue and Lucy from delivered a haul of toys for our Kids’ Wards as part of their annual Little Ray of Giving campaign. They’ve been donating Christmas gifts since 2013 — an incredible tradition that brings so much joy.

🏍️ The team at in Charmhaven generously donated a collection of toys to the Wyong Kids’ ward, brightening the holidays for local families and children.

🔥 Members of the Mad Diamond Social Motorcycle Club donated toys and gift cards for our Kids’ Wards. They rode to the hospital to deliver their donation, giving kids and their parents the chance to wave from the balcony as the bikes arrived - a moment they absolutely loved! 🏍️

🛍️ And our long‑standing supporters Myer Erina visited with toys and clothing for our Child Protection Service who help support the wellbeing of vulnerable members of our community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated this year. Your generosity helps make the season brighter for patients across the Central Coast. 💙
