Your Home. Your Way. Your Choice.

There is a very common belief I hear from families when they first reach out.
"We thought aged care meant moving into a facility."
This is one of the biggest misconceptions about the aged care system.
Many older Australians can receive support while continuing to live safely in their own homes.
Through government funded Support at Home program, people can access services that help with everyday living while staying in familiar surroundings.
This might include help with personal care, household tasks, transport to appointments or social support.
For many people, staying in their own home is incredibly important for their wellbeing and sense of independence.
It is not just about the physical space. It is about memories, comfort and feeling secure.
Understanding the options available can completely change how families approach aged care planning.
If you have ever wondered what support is available for someone living at home, it is always worth having the conversation.
Sometimes families are surprised by how much support actually exists 🌿
Please call on 0434 753 355 if you have any questions.

April is Falls Awareness Month.

📆 April is Falls Prevention Awareness Month! One of the best things you can do to prevent falls is regular exercise to maintain mobility, balance and strength.

According to the Australian Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, "research shows that exercise of any type reduces the risk of falling by 23%" - but what can you do when the fear of falling stops you from attempting regular exercise? 🤔

We have a range of fun games and gentle, movement-based activities to incorporate into your lifestyle plans to help build strength and confidence.

Your Home. Your Way. Your Choice.

I spoke with a gentleman recently who was worried about his mum living on her own.
She had always been incredibly independent and was determined to stay in her home. But recently she had started finding everyday tasks more difficult and he could see she was becoming more tired.
He told me something that really stuck with me.
"I just want to make sure she is safe, but I also don't want her to feel like she is losing her independence."
This is something many families struggle with.
The goal of aged care support is not to take independence away. It is actually the opposite.
The right support can help someone stay in their own home longer, continue their routines and maintain the life they love.
Sometimes it is simply a little extra help each week that makes everything feel more manageable.
Families often feel relieved once they realise support can be flexible and tailored to their loved one’s needs.
If this sounds familiar for your family, you are definitely not alone in feeling this way 💛

Your Home. Your Way. Your Choice.

I often see families struggle with is knowing when it is time to ask for help.
Many people wait until things feel overwhelming before they start exploring aged care support.
A parent might begin missing appointments, the house becomes harder to maintain, or everyday tasks start to feel exhausting. These small signs are often the first indicators that some extra support could make life much easier.
The good news is that aged care support does not mean losing independence.
In fact, the right support can help someone remain in their own home for much longer while still living life on their terms.
Sometimes it is simply having someone help with cleaning, shopping, transport or preparing meals.
A little support at the right time can make a huge difference to both the person receiving care and the family supporting them.
If you have been wondering whether it might be time to explore options for a loved one, trust that instinct. Having a conversation early can create far more choices and flexibility.
And remember, care should always be about supporting independence, not taking it away 💛

"What is a Support at Home program and how does it actually work?"
A Support at Home program is government funding designed to help older Australians stay safely in their own homes while receiving the support they need.
This support might include things like help with cleaning, personal care, transport to appointments, meals or even social support.
The challenge is that the system can be difficult to understand.
Many families apply for funding and then find themselves waiting months or even longer without really knowing what happens next.
This is where having the right guidance can make a big difference.
Understanding the process, knowing what support is available and having someone advocate for your loved one can help ensure they receive care that actually meets their needs.
Every person is different and their care should reflect that.
If you have questions about Support at Home program or how the system works, I am always happy to help explain things in simple terms. Please give me a call 0434 753 355
Sometimes just having clarity can lift a huge weight off families.

I had a conversation with a family recently that stayed with me 💭
They had been trying to organise support for their mum for nearly a year, but they still felt completely lost in the process.
One of the daughters said something that I hear often.
"We just want mum to stay in her home, but we don't know how to make that happen."
That moment really sums up why I do this work.
Most families are not looking for complicated solutions. They simply want their loved ones to feel safe, supported and able to remain in a place that feels familiar.
Sometimes it just takes the right guidance and someone to help navigate the system with you.
No one should feel overwhelmed when trying to care for the people they love.
If you are currently supporting an ageing parent, I see you. It is not always easy, but support is available 💛
