Established in 2021, The Independence Crew is a team of support workers with over 25 years of experience combined and a passion for caring and empowering the disability community and working with aged care to ensure our clients reach their fullest potential. We have the ability to assist you with:

* More than 300 Australians develop diabetes every day. That’s one person every five minutes
* Almost 1.9 million Australians have diabetes. This includes all types of diagnosed diabetes (almost 1.5 million known and registered) as well as silent, undiagnosed type 2 diabetes (up to 500,000 estimated)
* Almost 120,000 Australians have developed diabetes in the past year
* For every person diagnosed with diabetes there is usually a family member or carer who also ‘lives with diabetes’ every day in a support role. This means that an estimated 2.4 million Australians are affected by diabetes every day
* Total annual cost impact of diabetes in Australia estimated at $17.6 billion (inflation adjusted)
* Diabetes is the seventh most common cause of death by disease in Australia
* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians are three times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than non-Indigenous Australians, 4.3 times more likely to be hospitalised with type 2 diabetes and four times as likely to die from it
* Around 1.3 million people are hospitalised with diabetes-related conditions every year

⭐️ World Cerebral Palsy Day - October 6 2024 ⭐️

Every member of the CP community is unique, with passions, pursuits and identities beyond just that of a person with disability. CP is often misunderstood in the wider community, and ’s call to action is to overcome these stereotypes by celebrating the individuality and personality of our community.

There are more than 17 million people across the world living with cerebral palsy. Another 350 million people are closely connected to a child or adult with cerebral palsy.

Cerebral palsy is a physical disability that affects movement and posture. Many people with cerebral palsy have other related vision, hearing, communication and mobility needs. Its impact can range from a weakness in one hand, to almost a complete lack of voluntary movement.

It is a complex disability:

1 in 4 children with cerebral palsy cannot talk
1 in 4 cannot walk
1 in 2 have an intellectual disability
1 in 4 have epilepsy.

We are walking to raise funds for Lifeline to provide su***de prevention services and support Aussies in need.
