De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis (DQV). In simpler terms Mum’s thumb 👍

DQV is a painful condition caused by inflammation of the tendons that run along the side of the wrist, which is attached to the base of the thumb and is often caused by repetitive movement or overuse of the thumb or wrist.

💚 New mummas can experience DQV with 2 main activities:
1️⃣ Picking up bubs from their cot or up off the floor
2️⃣ Holding a phone in one hand and scrolling with the thumb of that same hand, usually during feeds in the wee hours of the night!

Mum's thumb is such a common condition we treat that we’ve got it down to a fine art 😎

Before starting Pilates classes, you will require an ‘Initial Exercise Appointment’ with one of our physios. 💟

🗒️ During this appointment, your physio will get to know you and your pregnancy so far, check in with you about your core and pelvic floor technique, and give you a heads-up about common things to watch out for!

🍼 If you have any concerns relating to your pregnancy or pain you might be experiencing, feel free to talk with your physio during this appointment.
