🧦 Friday, June 6th is Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day! 🩺

Dr Geoff Toogood occassionally wore odd socks to work when his puppy had eaten all his new socks. He came to realise that assumptions were being made by those around him - he wasn't doing ok or was failing - but rather than asking him about his wellbeing, little whispers started instead.

As a result, Dr Toogood started Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day, encouraging his colleagues and friends to don a pair of odd, colourful socks in an effort to break down the stigma, raise awareness for, and support the mental health of doctors and health professionals.

This week you may see us wearing some silly, colourful, crazy socks to support our team 🤩

💚 June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month 📣

Bowel Cancer is the second deadliest cancer in Australia, claiming the lives of around 100 Aussies per week, despite being one of the most preventable and treatable types when detected early.

Some facts to know this Bowel Cancer Month...
🍎 99% of Bowel Cancer cases can be treated successfully when found early, however less than 50% of cases are detected early
🍎 around 30% of all Bowel Cancer cases have a family or hereditary link
🍎 Bowel Cancer is the deadliest cancer in Australia for Aussies aged 25 - 44

Today we celebrate World Family Doctor Day, acknowledging the dedication of our amazing team of GPs!

GPs have the unique role of treating the whole person, offering comprehensive care to cover the physical, mental, and social health of their patients and communities. We are incredibly lucky at Marketplace Medical to have a highly skilled team of GPs who are compassionate, empathetic, and always put their patients first.
