If you are fasting and develop severe or new back pain, do not ignore it.

Sometimes it is your body telling you it is severely dehydrated and your kidneys may be under stress.

Do not ignore back pain when you are fasting, especially if the pain is intense or unusual. If you are concerned, it is important to seek medical care and get it checked.

This is particularly important if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or are pregnant.

If you are fasting with diabetes, high blood pressure, or during pregnancy, keep this in mind and share it with someone else fasting too.

After years of suffering migraines during fasting, I stopped drinking plain water and now do this instead ☪️

Please don’t get your knickers in a knot. I’m referring to my specific patients in this video and who and why I advise not to fast. The majority of my patients I’m referring to are also experiencing strong pain- which on its own can be a valid reason to break one’s fast.

Pregnancy, diabetics, gestational diabetes, autoimmune condition sufferers, POTS, and patients who are sick and unwell , are advised to reconsider fasting according to their personal circumstances.

Have you tried fasting when you were pregnant or sick? I have and it was bloody awful

Think your imaging your back pain is getting worse when your fasting? It’s not in your head, there is a reason for it! As we are fasting loooong, hot humid days in Sydney, Australia, with no food or water (Ramadan and some people observing Lent till midday) many people are surprised to understand why their back pain and symptoms are getting worse. Watch the video as I explain WHY your back pain could be flaring and who should likely NOT be fasting and the symptoms they should watch out for.

This is general information only, please seek individual medical advice if you’re sick or unwell. Seek a medical opinion or talk to your local pharmacist to get advice on how much electrolytes you need for your specific circumstances.

I said what I said.

If your hydrating properly and fasting is still making you feeling sick, your back pain is flaring, your feeling nauseous and weak, please reconsider.

Adequate hydration is essential to fast here in the heat and humidity of Sydney, Australia.

Patients with sickness, breastfeeding, pregnancy should also not fast if they are feeling unwell.

The risks to your baby are real.

Calling all AHPRA-registered Chiropractors, Osteopaths & Physiotherapists. This is not a generic associate role.

At Greenacre Sports Medicine Clinic, we are expanding a high-performance clinical team focused on complex spine and disc presentations, including the integration of spinal decompression therapy within multidisciplinary care.

We are looking for clinicians who want to grow into leadership, not just fill a room.

You do not need to know everything.
But you do need strong clinical foundations.

This role will suit a clinician who:

• Is confident with clinical assessment and diagnosis
• Has a hands-on approach to care (manual therapy / dry needling exposure essential)
• Understands how to apply effective rehabilitation strategies
• Has a solid anatomical foundation and wants to refine their craft

You will receive structured mentoring in complex spine management, exposure to spinal decompression therapy, ongoing CPD support, and the opportunity to develop within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

We offer a salary-based growth pathway with KPI bonuses, CPD allowance, and a wellness allowance because clinicians perform best when they continue to invest in themselves.

This environment is not designed for passive associates or clinicians looking for comfort over growth.
It is for professionals who are coachable, accountable, and ready to evolve.

Email your resume and a brief note on why this role resonates with you to:

Have you noticed your back or muscles feeling tighter this Ramadan?

Many people do not realise how much hydration affects the spine. Your discs rely on water to stay supported, and during long fasting hours it is common to feel more stiffness, flare ups, or slower recovery without enough fluids between Iftar and Suhoor.

If you are preparing for manual therapy or spinal decompression, looking after your hydration can make a real difference to how your body responds and recovers. Small habits, done consistently, can help you feel more comfortable throughout the month.

Take a moment to go through this carousel and save it for later. If you know someone who is fasting and struggling with back or muscle pain, share this with them so it can help someone else too.

If something feels off or you want guidance before your next session, call us on 9759 5707.
