This year our three kindergarten rooms are grateful and excited to be working alongside Dragon Fields as part of the Change Maker Program, focusing on a meaningful sustainability project.

With the guidance of Farmer Megan and Farmer Andrew, our children are learning step by step how small actions can make a big difference for our environment and community.

At the heart of this project is a simple but powerful idea: empowered people create change. By exploring sustainability, caring for the land, and learning from those who live and work with it every day, our young learners are discovering that they too can be changemakers.

We’re here to enable change — and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us. Let’s all get to it!

Our Kindergarten rooms have been busy exploring our new baby chickens that recently arrived from Dragon Fields Farm. The children have shown so much curiosity and excitement as they observe and learn about our fluffy new friends.

Throughout the week, the children have been creating their own interpretations of chickens through painting and drawing. They have also been working together to create their own chicken life cycle displays and have begun the exciting process of naming the baby chicks.

This experience has already become such a wonderful learning journey for everyone involved. The children are developing their understanding of the life cycle of chickens, sustainability, caring for animals, and where food can come from. We look forward to continuing this learning adventure as the chicks grow!

Today in Nursery 3, the children enjoyed some transportation-themed play by using different vehicles to paint. As they rolled the cars and trucks through the paint, they explored the textures of the wheels and discovered the interesting patterns the wheels created on the paper.

This fun activity encouraged creativity, sensory exploration, and curiosity as the children experimented with how different vehicles made different tracks. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they watched the patterns appear!

Even when it rains, it doesn’t stop us from having fun — sometimes it makes the fun even better! Jumping in puddles isn’t just playful, it’s actually great for little ones too.

Encourages physical activity – jumping, splashing, and balancing helps build coordination and strength.

Boosts mood – fresh air and movement release happy endorphins.

Sparks imagination – puddles turn into oceans, rivers, and adventures.

Supports sensory play – the sights, sounds, and splashes stimulate the senses.

Builds resilience – learning that a little rain can still mean a lot of fun.

Today, as we acknowledge International Women’s Day, we take a moment to celebrate and thank the incredible women who make up the heart of the Active Kids family.

To the strong, compassionate, resilient and kind-hearted women who work within our community — thank you. Your dedication, care and passion make a difference every single day. The energy you bring, the support you give, and the positive impact you have on the children and families around you does not go unnoticed.

We are so grateful for each and every one of you who helps create the supportive, welcoming and empowering environment that Active Kids is known for.

To the amazing women who are mums, step mums, carers, grandmas, mentors, and important role models in the lives of our children — you are truly phenomenal. The love, patience, guidance and strength you show each day helps shape confident, happy and capable young people.
