Reminder to all our interstate clients!
Daylight savings begins Sunday, October 6th for NSW, VIC, SA, TAS & ACT.
As a reminder, Queensland does not observe daylight savings, so our clocks stay the same.
If you’re joining us for a telehealth session from a daylight-saving state, please keep this in mind when checking your appointment time.
We want to make sure you don’t miss your session, please double-check your bookings and adjust your clocks if needed! 💙

Healthcare professionals show remarkable dedication, but the numbers are clear: they’re at twice the risk of significant psychological distress compared with the general population.
Small, intentional pauses during the day, like a brief walk or slow breathing help reduce stress and protect long-term wellbeing.

If you’d like to talk with a clinician who understands the unique pressures of healthcare work, contact MINDCHECK HP to book an appointment.

Darryn thoughtfully prepared a beautiful fruit platter for the clinic, and we all enjoyed some fresh, delicious fruit together. It’s a small reminder to take a moment for ourselves and enjoy the simple things.

Compassion fatigue or burnout?
They can feel similar, and that can be confusing.
Understanding the difference matters, because each calls for a different kind of support and recovery.
Take a moment to learn the signs so you can care for yourself as well as you care for others.

Feeling stressed by things outside your control? Science shows that focusing on what you can influence—your actions, thoughts, and responses—reduces stress and increases resilience.

Start small:
💙 Be mindful
💙 Play to your strengths
💙 Prioritize your tasks

Shifting your focus from “can’t” to “can” transforms obstacles into opportunities for growth(Positive Psychology, 2025; Verywell Health, 2024; Psychology Today, 2020; Times of India, 2023; Open Minds Psychological, 2025).

When considering support, it can be helpful to know the areas a clinician is most engaged in. Carolina has particular interest in a number of themes in her therapeutic work, some of which are highlighted in this post.
It is important to note that her support is not limited to these areas, and she welcomes clients with a wide variety of concerns.

👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ A sweet vanilla cupcake reminder that today is R U OK? Day which demonstrates the power of a simple question.

As healthcare professionals, we’re often the ones asking and holding space for others. But it’s just as important that we pause and ask each other and ourselves, R U OK?

🩺 The reality is, working in healthcare can be isolating, emotionally demanding, and exhausting. You don’t have to wait until someone is in crisis to reach out. Checking in with a colleague, friend, or teammate can make all the difference.

💛 Let’s break the silence, normalise these conversations, and support one another, because we can’t pour from an empty cup.

👉 If today feels heavy, know you are not alone. Professional support is always available, and reaching out is a sign of strength.

September 10th is World Su***de Prevention Day, a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and foster hope.
This year’s theme, “Changing the Narrative on Su***de,” encourages us all to shift the conversation from silence and judgment to understanding, openness, and support.

At MINDCHECK HP, we stand with those impacted by su***de and mental health challenges. Remember, reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You are not alone.

If you or someone you know needs support, there are trusted resources and communities ready to listen and help.
Learn more about how we can all change the narrative and save lives by visiting iasp.info/wspd

As healthcare professionals, our environments are often marked by relentless sensory stimulation; alarms, bright lights, constant movement. While this may be part of the job, the cumulative effect can manifest as internalised stress, panic, anxiety, or even burnout. The concept of sensory rest invites us to intentionally step away from the overload and prioritize environments that foster calm, clarity, and recharge.
Prioritising sensory rest isn’t a luxury; it’s a tool for resilience. Protect your well-being to sustain high performance in healthcare.
