✈️📸 Our team recently attended the 5th World Conference of Women’s Shelters ( ) in Sydney!

5th World Conference of Women’s Shelters is the world’s largest conference by and for those working at the grassroots to end gender-based violence. The event brings together presenters and attendees from across the world to Connect, Challenge and Change to achieve a world free of violence against women.

We were honoured to attend and be part of such important conversations!

Recently, we had the chance to visit UQ for the SEXtember event, a nationwide campaign held every September that promotes positive conversations about s*x, relationships, and consent. ❤

It was an amazing opportunity to connect with young people and share the important work we do at WHEQ, empowering them to make informed decisions and encouraging respectful attitudes towards s*xuality.

We were grateful to have been invited by to spend time with Health Minister yesterday on his visit to Brisbane.

Alongside our friends at Brisbane South PHN, headspace and Queensland Positive People - QPP we had an opportunity to discuss the importance of investment into prevention based health strategies. We spoke about lifting health literacy and the capacity of people to self-navigate our health system so communities are better empowered & equipped to access health supports sooner.

We look forward to continuing this much needed conversation at a state and national level.

Recently, some of our WHEQ team members participated in Brisbane State High School’s Women’s Health Week event!

It was a fantastic opportunity to share insights about our health promotion program that we run in schools and to engage young people in reflecting on the question: “What health issue concerns them the most for women and girls?”

A big thanks to BSHS for having us, we look forward to collaborating again and running more programs together! ✨

✨And that's a wrap on our Women's Health Luncheon 2025!

Thank you to all of our guests who celebrated with us! We had a wonderful day engaging in important conversations about improving health and wellbeing for rural, remote and regional women.

A very special thank you to our keynote speaker , our MC Kirsten MacGregor, and to our incredible panel of experts Belinda Lewis (), Emma Clarke (), and 1800 4 WOMEN Program Lead Gita Pirbadian. Your insights helped spark important conversations about healthcare access and equity for rural, remote and regional Queenslanders.

🏠 Building homes for all Queenslanders - now and for the future.

Everyone needs a place to call home that meets their needs.

52 organisations representing people with disability, older people, families/carers and the disability, housing and community sectors have joined together to show their support for Queensland’s continued implementation of the Livable Housing Design Standard (LHDS) under the National Construction Code.

Accessible housing is not a luxury; it’s a basic human right for all people.

Let’s continue to build accessible homes now that meet the needs of both today and tomorrow’s Queenslanders.

✨Today's speaker spotlight is Emma Clarke, President of the Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women's Network.

Having studied and grown up in Brisbane, Emma relocated to Central Queensland for a journalism cadetship when she was 20. Emma came to appreciate the impact these communities, and especially the women who make them, have on the state as a whole, including economies, workforces and industries.

"My heart is in regional Queensland and with rural, regional and remote communities. My professional and personal focus is on advocating for these communities – acknowledging the impact they’re able to make on the state and championing for community leaders to have access to the resources they need to continue making the impact they do".
