Women aged 50 and over should consider regular bone density checks in discussion with their GP, to detect osteoporosis early and prevent fractures. Bone density scans, such as a DXA scan, measure bone strength and are crucial for managing bone health effectively.

Early screening helps improve treatment outcomes and maintain mobility and independence. If you have risk factors like menopause, family history, or previous fractures, talk to your GP about getting tested sooner. For most women, starting screening at age 50 to 65 is recommended.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month,
and we’re here to add a pop of pink
and a pinch of fun
to remind everyone:
it’s time for your breast check!

With over 21,000 Australians diagnosed each year, early detection saves lives. That means making those breast checks part of your routine, both at home and with your GP.

Give those b***s a boogie in the shower (self-check!) and book in with your local doctor for extra peace of mind. Guys, you’re not off the hook men can get breast cancer too! And remember: most women diagnosed have no family history, so don’t put it off.

Let’s turn awareness into action: check, screen, repeat. Share this post, grab a buddy, and make breast checks a regular part of your health toolkit. Early detection means better outcomes.

Let’s keep our community strong, healthy, and having a laugh together this October.

Our ears are an important part of our body, not only for hearing, but for balance and coordination.

You may not think about your ears and ear health very often, however taking good care of them is important.

Ear wax may not be a topic we openly discuss, however if you are experiencing problems with ear wax build up, your GP will be able to assist. In some cases, removal may be recommended with microsuction (a gentle suction unit).

Give our clinic a call if you would like to know more or find some more information at: https://tophealthdoctors.com.au/.../ear-wax-removal.../

Planning a BIG trip for the Christmas holidays?

Did you know that travel-related illness can vary based on various factors such as destination, type of travel, and individual health conditions. However, studies suggest that around 20% to 50% of Australians may experience travel-related illness, depending on the region they visit and the activities they engage.

Travel-related illness can vary based on various factors such as destination, type of travel, and individual health conditions. However, studies suggest that around 20% to 50% of Australians may experience travel-related illness, depending on the region they visit and the activities they engage in.

Common travel illnesses include gastroenteritis, respiratory infections, and other conditions often related to changes in environment, food, and water. Travelers are encouraged to take preventive measures, such as getting vaccinations, practicing good hygiene, and avoiding high-risk foods and drinks.

BE PREPARED! Contact your local GP for advice on any vaccinations you may require: https://tophealthdoctors.com.au/our-services/travel-clinic-brisbane

As the weather warms up, it’s a great time to remember how important staying hydrated is! According to Australian health guidelines, adult men should aim to drink about 2.6 litres (roughly 10 cups) of fluids daily, and adult women about 2.1 litres (around 8 cups).

Water is essential for digestion, regulating body temperature, and keeping your skin, muscles, and organs working well. It’s best to choose plain water as your main drink since it’s refreshing and free of sugars or additives. So, grab your bottle, fill it up often, and keep sipping to stay healthy and energized this season!
