📚 Is your child back at school and complaining of an itchy bottom?
Unfortunately, worms are a common concern among children.
Some signs of the threadworm (also known as the pinworm) to look out for are:
• itchy bottom, especially at night
• reduced appetite
• feeling mildly unwell
• redness or irritation of the perianal region, usually with evidence of scratching
• adult worms can sometimes be seen in the faeces, and eggs may be seen clinging to the skin around the a**s
• irritability and behavioural changes.
How can worms be treated?
Treatment usually involves a single dose of medicine for the infected person and each family member. You can buy threadworm treatment over the counter at Capital Chemist Tuggeranong Square, without a prescription. It is not necessary to treat children on a regular basis, just in case they have worms, but if one member of the family has them, its best for all to be treated to avoid re-infestation.
To prevent reinfection, wash bodies, bedding, and sleepwear thoroughly in hot water, and use an antiseptic cleaning of toilet seats, taps, and door handles.
Remember, to wash your hands well to minimise the chances of sharing worms!
Grab a worming treatment from your friendly Capital Chemist pharmacist to treat the whole family. Consult your pharmacist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking worming medicine. For all your back to school needs talk to your friendly Capital Chemist pharmacist today.

How long will this cold last?

Navigating a cold can be annoying, but knowing what to expect and understanding the stages of a cold can help us to manage our symptoms better.

Stage 1: Days 1-3
Incubation phase. You might feel a scratchy throat and slight fatigue. Remember, you can still be contagious even before symptoms kick in.

Stage 2: Days 4-7
This is when you're likely to feel the worst. Symptoms peak here with a blocked nose, headache, and possible cough. Stock up on lozenges and nasal sprays to ease discomfort.

Stage 3: Days 7-10
Recovery period! Most people start to feel better, but lingering symptoms may still be present. Keep hydrated and rest up.

Always consult a doctor if you have severe symptoms like a high fever or difficulty breathing. Talk to your friendly Capital Chemist Pharmacist today for help to reduce your cold and flu symptoms.
