EPP Support Group People suffering from Mesothelioma that have undergone extrapleural pneumonectomy surgery.

EPP stands for extrapleural pneumonectomy, a radical procedure where the diseased lung and the surrounding pleura, and the diaphram are removed in the hope of stopping the growth of mesothelioma tumors. The surgery is usually accompanied by chemotherapy and radiation treatment, a process that can take 6 months or more, and years of rehabilitation. The patients who have gone through this procedure rely heavily on support from other patients, from their carers, usually their wife, husband or partner, and the dedicated medical teams that continue to support all of the group for as long as it takes. In addition, the group takes an interest in the development of medical research into mesothelioma and new treatments as they become available. The most recent development is the drug Keytruda, which in some patients has resulted in excellent health improvements. The group gathers regularly for support and discussion, as well as social engagement, and welcomes newcomers or enquiries regarding the disease and the treatment we have undergone.
