As OT's, we provide a range of support to help you through this journey; you'll see us:
1. Check in with how you are feeling each session and provide genuine care to help support you.
2. Actively listen; either offering support or solutions to help - depending on individual needs at that time.
3. Help problem solve or get creative in finding solutions to support each day.
4. Assist with adjusting routines, transitions, and anything that is around daily life activities, including school, preschool community and home.
5. Provide strategies to help the whole family, not just your child, as often as possible.
6. A support person who is walking beside you in this journey!

Working closely with our parents is fundamental in helping them advocate for and support their children, based on their own needs, whilst feeling confident in what they are seeking! Whilst working with Explore and Soar, it's our aim for parents to gain a better understanding of foundational skills by planning long and short term goals. We also strive to build connection and allow parents to share any concerns or challenges, not too big or too small. Most importantly, we share the wins with parents as well. We offer an outside perspective - it's tricky to see the little things that might be right in front of you when you're in the middle. Take a moment to check in and receive support for yourself, to not feel alone. If parents feel supported, then so do their children.

Our Cook, Create & Explore crew had a fantastic week diving into hands-on cooking, crafting and outdoor adventures! Each day began with movement and sensory activities to get our bodies organised and ready for learning before jumping into our cooking tasks. The group worked together to follow recipes, practice safe food-handling, measure ingredients and take on different roles such as chef, helper and cleaner. We made some delicious treats including cookies, brownies, cupcakes, sandwiches, fairy bread and mini pizzas.
Our explorers collected inspiration from the environment to create their very own tie-dye shirts. The group experimented with folding techniques, rubber bands and vibrant colour combinations to design unique patterns. This hands-on craft supported fine motor development, bilateral coordination, visual-motor planning and creative expression with everyone proudly taking home a personalised shirt at the end of the session.
Throughout the week, we focused on teamwork, turn-taking, communication and building confidence in group settings. Our Cook, Create & Explore participants showed wonderful cooperation during cooking, problem-solving during craft, and growing independence in organising their workspaces and cleaning up.
We are so proud of how our young chefs, creators and adventurers embraced new challenges, supported each other over the week. They finished the week with recipes to take home, creative masterpieces, new friendships formed and old friendships reignited.

At the beginning of each term, our OT's and client's parents begin ongoing appointments with a review of previous terms and plan what we would like the coming term to look - create goals, priorities and plan the most effective way to achieve these in our OT sessions. This is a powerful moment in therapy for our OT's and parents as it allows us to work closely with the child and family in meeting their goals and consistent improvements show progress is made for our families and children.

Parent Coaching Sessions can happen at any time throughout a child's therapy intervention journey! It is a great opportunity for the child's caregivers and OT to openly talk through any concerns, problem solve solutions and work together on finding a way to implement within the everyday life and routines. These sessions of collaboration are developed through connection, trust, and respect built over time with the OT and family, allowing for more in depth conversations and vulnerability to not only work through the little things, but the big things as well! We're here for you, always!

We offer parent education sessions after every assessment! This parent education session provides OT assessment results, explanations, background information linked directly to assessment results around what is happening specifically for their children, most importantly, the why. This part of parent coaching significantly deepens understanding of what is happening for their child, to empower our parents to ask more questions, and help have confidence to advocate for their child and family needs. The depth of understanding helps set realistic goals, allows families and OT's to be on the same page to work collaboratively together, in therapy sessions and at home. The power of being on the same page, at the start of the journey together.

Our little builders had a great week working together to build complex lego builds. We broke into groups and worked as an engineer, builder and supplier to utilise great teamwork to explain, describe, locate and build Lego sets. Our group built a Disney train, a castle, a vespa, a car, plus many more! Among the building; we engaged in gross motor movements through obstacle courses and air mattresses to set up our bodies to allow us to engage and attend to the Lego builds. After working together as a team, we then broke into pairs and singles to build Lego challenges in 10 minutes, including themes such as space, dinosaurs, and favourite animals. Everyone worked hard this week building upon their strong teamwork, visual, spatial and fine motor skills, gross motor development and social skills with some amazing friendships created.

What a great week we had with our Sensory Adventure Camp crew! We were thankful for the great weather so we could go exploring in nature around the hall to collect objects to make our many crafts including leaf people, wind chimes, suncatcher and stick cars. The rain held off and the sun came out so we could go for a walk out into our local community to complete a ‘Nature Scavenger Hunt’. We were working both in pairs and as a whole team to find all the items on our list, and then some. We even saw a boat on our adventures. Our little Adventurers continued to work on their turn taking, negotiating and problem solving skills while playing games with their peers. And of course they all loved the air mattress and scooter board relays! Our Adventurers finished the week with their arms full of craft to share with their families.

Wishing all kindergarten students a great start to their schooling year! We had so much fun supporting our clients during the January School Holidays in our Big School STARS Group Program. Check out what they got up to!
The wonderful Big School STARS had an exciting week filled with fun activities, meeting new friends, and preparing themselves to start the transition to Kindergarten this year! Each day, we started with strategies to support our excitement through regulation activities, went on exciting adventures with our friends from the WeThinkers Book Series - Social Explorer’s; followed by exhilarating gross motor activities which helped us engage our bodies in big and small spaces. Our Big School STARS had a great time practicing pre-handwriting skills by writing on whiteboards, playing with play dough and enjoyed all types of crafts projects including making crabs, jellyfish, snakes, flying rocket ships and even trumpeting elephants. We had fun working together and sharing ideas, especially during snack time and crafts. Our Big School STARS are looking forward to starting school!

Parent Coaching is about providing opportunities for parents and caregivers to connect and develop a strong relationship with the clinician when working together. This is achieved through communication and building knowledge about their Childs individual strengths and challenges to support them on a deeper level, understanding how ongoing support will be implemented for their own personal situation and together enhance problem solving, emotional support and connectedness when going on this journey!
