Celebrating One Year of Serving Griffin Families 🎉

This week marks one year since Griffin Medical Centre came under new ownership and leadership, and we wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

When we took over in March 2025, we made a commitment: to rebuild this clinic into something Griffin families could trust and be proud of.

Here's what we've accomplished together over the past year:

Skin checks are back at Griffin Medical Centre. Bulk billed consults. Limited spots on Wednesday, 11 February.

We’ve had lots of requests, so we brought in Dr Wesley Chan, a highly in demand skin doctor with a strong focus on skin cancer checks and skin procedures.

Queensland is the skin cancer capital of the world. Over 2 in 3 Australians are diagnosed with skin cancer by age 70. Brisbane UV often reaches 11+ (extreme), so regular checks matter.

⚠️ Supporting Griffin’s Growing Medical Needs: We Need Your Help‼️

Since opening in 2017, Griffin Medical Centre has been proud to care for our fast-growing community. However, we’re currently facing significant challenges due to a shortage of locally trained doctors. This means supporting our patients is becoming increasingly difficult.

One key barrier is that overseas-trained doctors are either required to work in rural areas or face long waiting periods (sometimes up to 10 years) before they can gain full registration here.

As the only medical centre servicing Griffin, we’re actively working with Emma Comer MP and Mark Butler MP to request a special exemption that will help us recruit doctors directly for Griffin.

Why this matters:
Our patient base continues to grow, and managing the number of patients is a challenge when staff resources are limited. Many overseas-trained doctors face systemic barriers to joining private practice locally, leaving a significant gap in access to care. This affects not only new patients but also the quality of support we can provide our loyal current patients who count on us.

New Dedicated Parking Spot for Parents with Prams!

At Griffin Medical Centre, we know Griffin is home to many young families, just look at the wonderful kids attending local schools and childcare centres around us. That’s why we are happy to announce we now have a dedicated parking spot right outside our entrance for parents with prams to make your visit easier and more convenient.

We love taking care of the little ones at our practice! Our nurses undergo regular training in children’s procedures to ensure your child receives the best care possible. Plus, we offer rewards for children when they receive their early childhood vaccines because we believe in supporting healthy, happy kids from the start.

Since switching to bulk billing on November 1st, the response from our community has been incredible.

Patients are coming through our doors in greater numbers, and we feel honored. But with growth comes the need to expand our front-line team.
