A note from Kerrie, our in-house naturopath at Consano:

It’s not “just stress”…

But I do see all the time how the challenges of busy lives show up in your pelvic health as recurrent thrush, UTIs, irritation, changes in discharge… or symptoms that seem to pop up out of nowhere.

When your nervous system is under pressure, it can shift your hormones, immune function, and pelvic microbiome, basically making things a little more reactive than we’d like.

The good news? When we support your body to slow down and feel safe again, things often start to settle. Symptoms calm, flare-ups become less frequent, and your system feels a whole lot more predictable.

It’s never just about treating the local symptoms (although that can be a game-changer); we’re always looking at the bigger picture together.

I’m at Consano on Wednesdays, ready to support you and your health goals!

Over the past couple of years we have received lots of questions from patients about 'the pelvic floor chair'. What is it? Does it work? Is it worth it?

We have had the same curiosity ourselves. As a practice that values and strives to keep up with current research, we did a deep dive into HIFEM (AKA the pelvic floor chair) to see what we could find.

Here's what we discovered...

Trust your GUT!

Gut health isn’t just about digestion. It often shows up as bloating, constipation, IBS-type symptoms, recurrent thrush or UTIs, and many people don’t realise how connected it all is.

Your gut and pelvic microbiome are separate ecosystems, but they’re in constant communication. What happens in the gut influences your immune system, inflammation levels, hormone balance and metabolism, microbial balance elsewhere in the body, and even your skin.

When we gently improve fibre diversity (where appropriate), support the integrity of the gut lining, rebalance the microbiome and calm the nervous system, we often see shifts that go far beyond digestion. It’s never just about the gut; it’s about the whole system working together again.

This is the work I love doing, and I’m so grateful to now be offering it in a dedicated pelvic health space at Consano on Wednesdays.

Why see a naturopath as part of pelvic health care?

We asked Kerrie this very question. Here's what she said:

If you’re already seeing the pelvic health physio team and thinking, “Could naturopathy help me too?” The short answer is yes, often beautifully alongside physio care.

As a naturopath, I support what’s happening inside the body, so your treatment works better overall. You might see me for support with:

Gut health
• Constipation
• Loose stools or urgency
• Bloating, reflux, IBS-type symptoms
• Gut issues linked to stress or hormones

Hormones
• Painful, heavy or frequent periods
• PMS, PCOS, perimenopause & menopause
• Cycle changes, low progesterone, hormonal anxiety
• Supporting pelvic health through hormonal balance

Pelvic health support
• Working alongside your physio for pelvic pain, endo, bladder
or bowel issues
• Addressing inflammation, gut–pelvic connections and
hormone drivers

Men’s health
• Prostate support
• Hormones, energy and longevity/ ageing well
• Gut health and inflammation

Stress, sleep & mental health
• Insomnia, poor sleep quality & early waking
• Chronic stress or burnout
• Anxiety, low mood or feeling “not quite yourself”

Paediatric care (an area I feel deeply passionate about)
• Constipation and gut issues in children
• Eczema and other skin concerns
• Colic, reflux and unsettled babies
• Supporting our little ones gently (while holding space for the
amazing caregivers who need care too)

My approach is practical, realistic and supportive, no extremes, no judgment, and no trying to be perfect. Nothing fancy, just consistency and a few clever tricks to fit into your lifestyle.

Naturopathy helps support your body from the inside.
