Autumn & Seasonal Shift
For some people a seasonal shift can trigger stress and anxiety.
The transition from shifting from Summer to Autumn can be overwhelming for some people. The seasonal shift brings shorter days and reduced sunlight(lowering serotonin and Vitamin D).
When there is a lower level of serotonin produced, our moods, appetite and sleep patterns may be affected.
Ways to help with seasonal shift:
- Accept the Autumn season & focus on what you can enjoy.
- Stay active, regular exercise helps to maintain mental health and boosts energy.
- Limit the overload of information, especially news & social media that may cause fatigue and poor decision making.
- Practise mindfulness,
which helps to reduce anxiety and regulate emotions.
- Maximise time spent in natural sunlight, which helps to regulate circadian rhythm.
- Stay connected with family and friends, which helps you have a greater sense of purpose and provides emotional encouragement.
- Boost your immunity, by eating a diet rich in vitamins and minerals.
- Stay hydrated, as dry air and indoor heating can increase fluid loss.
- Spoil yourself with a wellness treatment, like a massage or facial, to help strengthen your immune system, aid relaxation and help boost your mood.
