📢 Important Update: Pathology Services in Gulgong
We wish to inform our patients and community that pathology services are currently unavailable in Gulgong.

During this time, patients will need to attend Mudgee for any required pathology testing.

We understand this may cause inconvenience and want to assure you that we are actively working to secure a local pathology service in Gulgong as soon as possible.

👥 Stage 2 is now underway, and we would like to invite back previous GMC patients who were active at the time of our closure in 2024.

See you all soon…but we’ll be busy…

Given the long time since the town has had regular medical care, I expect that there will be a lot of issues that will need to be dealt with as efficiently as possible .In order to help Skye and I get to the important things in a timely way we all need to work together and work smart.

Initially we need everyone to come prepared.
It would be great if people could come with their medications so we can be sure we have your medications correct. Let us know if you have any allergies
If you could also come prepared with your past history and a family history
Have a list of issues you need us to deal with.
We may not be able to deal with the full list,but at least we can make a plan of action
For patients with chronic health conditions, the only way to keep on top of your health is to have a care plan where we regularly review your health goals and needs

I like to try to be punctual,but inevitably I’ll be late .There are moments when people need time ,when things can’t be rushed and I ask for your patience.There will be times when the hospital will call and that will just be part of looking after the town. Can’t wait to start .See you soon.

“G’day Gulgong,
Dr Mark Adamski, just wanting to introduce myself . I’m really excited to be joining NP Skye Bradford at the Gulgong Medical Centre, and the great team at the Gulgong Hospital in providing care to the local community.

I’ll be coming to you from the Port Stephen’s area where I’ve been working for more than twenty years. I was working in Gulgong in early May, as part of my work with the Virtual Rural Generalist Service, which has been trying to support Gulgong and other Western NSW towns with the doctor shortage . I was struck by what a beautiful town it was and how friendly people were.

Folks kept suggesting I should come and stay, but it was on Election Day, that the deal was done. The Democracy Sausages caught my eye but I didn’t have any cash with me. A young lady looking after the BBQ,shouted me a sausage sandwich as long as I came back to work in Gulgong.I could never say “No” to a sausage sandwich and so here I come!

Born in Sydney to immigrant parents, I never crossed the Great Dividing range till long after I was shaving. After graduating from the University of NSW I spent six years preparing for rural generalist practice and went to work in Cowra where I spent ten great years.

Port Stephen’s has been good to me,but I’ve always wanted to get back to the country.. So I’m back in the Central West, with my wife Helen, and am looking forward to getting to know you and enjoying the good life in Gulgong

We’re almost ready to go! Due to some last-minute setup challenges (new software + internet/phone issues), we’re delaying bookings until Thursday, 10th July.

📣 A Note on Reopening Our Books

Our original announcement noted that Stage 1 of reopening our books would be for Gulgong residents who have not been accepted by any other GP service.

We’re taking a staged approach to reopening to ensure fair and equitable access to healthcare for our community.

🗓️ Stage 1 is expected to cover the first weeks of reopening, with appointments offered based on clinical need and availability.

We’re also aware that many residents of Cooks Gap, Ulan, and Turill are geographically closer to Gulgong, even though they fall under the Mudgee postcode. If you live in these areas and have not been accepted by another GP service, you are included in Stage 1.

👥 Stage 2 will follow and invite back previous patients of GMC who were active at time of closing in 2024.

📣 The Announcement You’ve All Been Waiting For…
After a long and challenging 18 months, we finally have some great news for the Gulgong community.
Gulgong Medical Centre will reopen its doors on Monday, 14th July 2025.
We’re thrilled to welcome Dr Mark Adamski, who will be joining us to provide vital GP services to our community.
We know this is exciting news, and we also understand that many of you will have questions. Please be patient with us as we work hard to build a sustainable, community-focused medical service.

Here are a few FAQs to get us started:

🗓 When will the clinic open?
Our first day of face-to-face appointments will be Monday, 14 July 2025.
Reception will open during the week of 7 July 2025 for appointment bookings.
This will be a busy time, so we appreciate your patience when contacting the clinic.

🏠 Where will the clinic be operating from?
We’ll be back at our original location: 102 Herbert Street, Gulgong.

👥 Will there be any restrictions on who can attend GMC?
Initially, we will open bookings to Gulgong residents only, with priority given to those who have not been accepted by other practices.
Hospital discharge patients requiring follow-up care will be seen by our Nurse Practitioner in a dedicated clinic.

On-the-day emergency appointments will be available and triaged based on urgency. Non-urgent issues may be directed to our NP clinic.

Reopening a medical centre is no small task. Our team is committed to meeting your healthcare needs, and we ask for your patience, understanding, and kindness during this time.
If you have concerns, please use the appropriate channels outlined on our website — these will be updated in the coming weeks.
While we respect everyone’s right to share their views, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards negative or derogatory comments directed at our staff or services on social media.

In response to community concerns please note the medical centre has no intention of closing nor is Dr Nebras leaving in the foreseeable future. We understand that there has been some unplanned leave which has caused some inconvenience and we thank you for you patience.
