With changes to general practice bulk billing taking effect from the 1st November 2025, the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has recently published a webinar to provide GPs and Practice Managers with more information about the upcoming changes to bulk billing incentive eligibility and the new Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Payment (BBPIP).

This webinar was held on 4 August 2025 as the first of 5 similar webinars held between 4 and 12 August 2025. The webinars gave GPs and practice managers information on the upcoming changes to bulk billing incentive eligibility and the new Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program.

💙👖Today is officially Jeans for Genes Day! 👖💙

Earlier this week our wonderful team recognised this day to kick off our August fundraiser, donning our best denim ensemble and enjoyed morning tea together! The Jeans for Genes Australia campaign supports the Children's Medical Research Institute and raises money for research into genetic diseases and birth defects that affect 1 in 20 children.

QPA would also like to congratulate Dr Annette Carruthers AM, from GP Access After Hours and all of the other deserving recipients of the 2025 Primary Care Quality and Innovation Awards Hall of Fame, hosted by Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network. Your outstanding contribution to driving quality in primary care has been recognised by peers and patients and has been awarded for outstanding dedication to service. Congratulations on this wonderful recognition Dr Carruthers!

Our QPA team would like to congratulate Dr Marie-Anne Hockings, from QPA accredited Hamilton Doctors.

On Friday evening, 1st August, the Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network hosted their annual Primary Care Quality and Innovation Awards for 2025, now in its fifth year.

The winner of the Primary Care Leader Award - Individual was awarded to Dr Hockings, who has her dedicated her professional life as a GP to providing outstanding clinical care to her patients and community.

She highly values equity of access to quality health care by supporting vulnerable patients. She is an expert in complex care, obstetrics, mental health, additional medicine, forensic sexual assault care and health care for First Nations and homeless people. This has included a wide and varied General Practice career spanning more than three decades.

Congratulations on this very deserving award and recognition Dr Hockings!

Recently, two of our QPA quality surveyors Dr Geoff Symons and Carolyn Sickerdick visited a practice in Streaky Bay, a costal town on the western side of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. Despite being a seven hour drive from Adelaide, the practice they visited embraces accreditation as a quality improvement activity that helps their team deliver a comprehensive and vital service to this close-knit rural community and continued quality care to their patients.

Yesterday we had the great pleasure of welcoming some of the incredible volunteers from the Can Assist Gundagai branch to our QPA office.

Earlier this year, our small Gundagai head office team raised over $160 during our January fundraising efforts, which we proudly donated to our local Can Assist branch - part of the Cancer Assistance Network.

Can Assist is an outstanding organisation that supports individuals and their families facing the financial burdens of cancer treatment. The assistance provided to families is particularly crucial in rural and regional communities, like ours, where accessing care, treatment and support often means travelling long distances and staying away from home for extended periods.

Kerrie from our fundraising committee, on behalf of our QPA family, was honoured to present our donation and personally thank members from the Can Assist Gundagai committee Phil Smith, Julie Pigram and Anne Tickner for their tireless, life-changing work in our community.

Thank you Can Assist for everything you do.
