We also offer the latest techniques to enhance our evaluation of your ocular health; we recommend high resolution retinal photography for all our patients. This allows us to detect details not visible by standard methods and as these images are stored permanently on your record we are able to accurately compare your eyes’ appearance, from one visit to the next. We strive to enhance your experience as a patient by ensuring that you are properly informed about any procedures or treatments you may encounter during your visit. We provide a dedicated ‘one to one’ service to ensure that you receive expert attention. While choosing your frame our qualified staff will be able to advise you according to your prescription, face shape, colouring and life style requirements all in a relaxed and unhurried manner. Ah, the one and only Tim Duffy. For four decades, his name has been synonymous with high quality eyecare across the north west region. Founding his independent practice, “Vision Splendid” in 1985 – when many of the current staff were at school, in nappies or not yet thought of – he worked solo for many years, servicing Gunnedah and a satellite clinic in Coonabarabran. Fast forward to 2026, and Vision Splendid has full-time practices in Gunnedah, Narrabri and Moree and continues to service Coonabarabran weekly.

Tim is not retiring, but will be spending much more time on the golf course, on a surf board, running after grandkids and locuming for his optometrist daughter, Amanda, down in Newcastle.

We will miss his presence, his laconic humour, his sweaty Lycra cycling shorts strewn around the tea room and his ALL CAPS RECORD-KEEPING STYLE. He leaves behind a legacy of providing high level care to his patients but also giving high level care, friendship and camaraderie to his colleagues.

And while Tim attempts to edge towards retirement, for the rest of us, it will be business as usual at Vision Splendid, with our faithful communities able to expect the same friendly faces and helping hands as they enter our doors.
