Today is Indigenous Literacy Day — a celebration of stories, cultures, and languages.
This year’s theme, "Strength in Our Stories: For Now & Future Generations," highlights the power of storytelling to connect and inspire.
Let’s listen, learn, and celebrate First Nations voices today and every day.

This week, we’re celebrating women’s health week—I’m especially proud to work alongside Ms. Mac and Katie, dedicated Allied Health Assistants.
Their care, creativity, and support help local children build confidence as they work towards their communication goals.
Let’s look after their health too, by keeping kids home if they’re not well!

Day 5 of Speech Pathology Week 💬
Research indicates that 10-20% of high school students have language-based communication difficulties.

We want them to be able to make the most of opportunities that come their way - speech pathologists can help with:

▶️ Vocabulary needed for assessments;
▶️ Deeper understanding of class texts;
▶️ Cues and scripts for social interactions;
▶️ Organising written responses.

Do you know an adolescent who could benefit from this support?

✨ Speech Pathology Week ✨
Today’s topic is Empowerment Through Communication – that’s what I have the privilege of watching when kids find their voice.
Whether it’s asking for their fav song again, joining in a game, showing what they’ve learnt in class, ‘negotiating’ for dessert, or telling a story at home…communication builds confidence.

Happy Speech Pathology Week 💬
Gunnedah’s Namoi river isn’t flooding at the moment - it’s great to see everyone’s smiling faces back at school and in clinic.

Day three of Speech Pathology Week hits close to home…

For children with language disorders, small changes make a big difference:
✨ Use pictures and visuals to help engagement
✨ Give extra time to respond in group activities
✨ Check for understanding before starting
✨ Encourage buddies and teamwork, even in the earliest stages of child development.

Every child deserves to feel heard and included.

It’s day two of Speech Pathology Week 🌟

Every child deserves to feel confident when sharing their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. Sometimes children can find it tricky to get their message across – what they really want for breakfast, the word that’s on the tip of their tongues, the answer they know but just can’t say on the spot…

Speech pathologists are here to help - please reach out.

Welcome to the start of Speech Pathology Week!
I’ve been ‘connecting through communication’ in The Best Job Ever for eighteen years, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now, I am working with allied health assistants in
Gunnedah, to roll out extra connections for local children.

The NSW Government is holding public consultations on new Foundational Supports for children under 9 who are autistic and/or have a developmental delay. These supports will help children with low-to-moderate needs and their families, outside of the NDIS.

Community consultations will run from August to November 2025 across NSW.

Parents, carers, people with disability, and sector professionals are encouraged to share their views.
Programs may launch in 2025–26, pending a national funding agreement.

Help shape the system. 👉 https://bit.ly/45ETFRt
