This week is Headache and Migraine Awareness Week in Australia – a time to shine a light on two very common yet often misunderstood conditions.
👉 Headache: Usually causes a dull or aching pain in the head or neck. It can be triggered by stress, dehydration, lack of sleep, or eye strain. While uncomfortable, most headaches are short-lived and manageable with rest, hydration, and simple pain relief.
👉 Migraine: Much more than a headache. Migraines are often intense, throbbing, and can last hours to days. They may be accompanied by nausea, vision changes (such as seeing flashing lights), and sensitivity to light or sound. Migraines often interfere with daily life and may need specific treatment or preventative strategies.
💡 If headaches or migraines are frequent or severe, it’s important to seek advice from your pharmacist or GP to find the right support and treatment.
