Today is International Women’s Day.

A day to pause and recognise the strength, courage, and quiet resilience of women everywhere.

The women who came before us and fought for the rights we now stand on.

The women beside us who support, challenge, and uplift us.

And the women within us who are still growing, still healing, still becoming.

At Alasana – A Safe Space to Be You®, I have the privilege of witnessing women show up exactly as they are.

Some arrive strong and grounded. Others arrive tired, overwhelmed, unsure of themselves.

And yet every single one of them carries something extraordinary inside.

Strength doesn’t always look loud or powerful.

Sometimes it looks like vulnerability.

Sometimes it looks like asking for help.

Sometimes it simply looks like showing up.

Today we celebrate women, their stories, their wisdom, their courage, and their right to take up space in the world.

And to the men who walk beside them, support them, and champion them, thank you for helping create a world where everyone can rise.

May we continue to lift each other up, today and every day.

Excitement fills Alasana. More babies coming in August.
amdur.yoga.pilates and Shannon are welcoming a third baby Boyd to the family.

and Chris will be welcoming their first, a boy.

We congratulate them all and can't wait to meet the new bubbas.

When Charlotte leaves and March I will be taking over 930am Monday Vinyasa and we will be looking for new team members to take over from Nicole and Chloe.

The only thing constant is change. Oh and babies!

Pranayama (Breath) Workshop

Breath is where yoga becomes felt, not forced.
It is the quiet place where the nervous system softens and the mind learns it does not need to rush.

This Pranayama workshop is an invitation to slow down and explore the art of conscious breathing. Together we will move gently, pause often, and learn practical breathing techniques that support calm, clarity, energy regulation and emotional steadiness.

You do not need any prior experience. This is not about doing it perfectly, it is about listening, feeling and allowing the breath to guide you home to yourself.

This Sunday we say goodbye to Jenny Craven.
Jen wandered into Alasana two and a half years ago on a 14 day trial.

Somewhere along the way she casually found me and shared that she was a teacher, that she loved the classes, the studio, and most of all the community, and asked if I was looking for team members.

As it so often happens at Alasana, I was.
Jen became part of our team and very quickly her classes filled. Her warmth, steadiness, and light have been felt by so many.

Thank you Jen for being exactly who you are and for the beautiful contribution you have made to this space and this community.

You will be deeply missed, and we also know this next chapter will be an incredible one for you and your family.

We know we will see you on the mat whenever life allows.

Margie McCall is a nurturing and experienced yoga teacher with over 20 years of personal practice and 10 years of professional teaching. Her journey began as a healing response to a car accident, and has since evolved into a lifelong exploration of yoga as a tool for physical recovery, emotional resilience, and spiritual growth.

Margie's classes are grounded in a gentle restorative flow, combining slow, mindful movement with breath awareness. She enhances her restorative yoga sessions with supportive props such as bolsters, straps, and blocks, creating a deeply nurturing environment that allows students to fully relax and release. Her teaching invites students to slow down, go within, and reconnect with their inner calm. Restorative sessions are designed to release tension, support emotional healing, and cultivate peace. Ideal for anyone seeking a therapeutic and nurturing yoga experience.

In this workshop we will explore Warrior I, II and III in a way that honours individual bodies. You will learn how alignment supports joint safety, sustainable strength, and ease in the breath, helping the pose feel steady rather than forced.
