Fat grafting is one of the procedures I’m asked about most when patients are exploring ways to restore volume or soften certain areas.
It involves taking a small amount of fat from one part of the body and placing it into another area that may benefit from added volume.
Because it’s your own tissue, it tends to integrate in a way that can feel quite natural.
One of the important things to understand is that not all of the transferred fat will remain. A portion is naturally reabsorbed by the body, and this is part of the normal process. It also means that results can continue to evolve as things settle.
In some cases, we may discuss whether a second session is appropriate, depending on your goals.
More than anything, it’s about understanding what feels right for you. That’s something I would always take the time to go through carefully, so you feel informed and comfortable before making any decisions.
