Arlie’s Shed Weekly Update!

This week, we celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities through the Disability Roll and Stroll down Mary Street. The turnout was fantastic, showcasing the strong support within our community.

Cooking
Our cooking program has been busy creating delicious meals, including beef kebabs with pearl couscous salad, creamy macaroni bake, and Thai grilled chicken with Greek salad. We even made lunchbox pizzas and tasty fruit smoothies. Participants practiced valuable skills such as list making, ingredient shopping, and food prep.

Woodworking & Trades
In woodworking, we cleaned up our area in preparation for a big launch next year. We’re also cutting more chopping boards, which are in high demand.

Arts, Crafts, and Learning
This week, we made pinecone Christmas trees and decorations and completed centerpieces for our Christmas party. Participants enjoyed games, karaoke, and as always dancing. Plenty of dancing, blending fun with creativity.

Thursday Social
For our Thursday social, we enjoyed a wonderful day at Baroon Dam in Maleny, swimming, sports, bushwalking and having a BBQ lunch while staying sun smart.

Gardening
In gardening, we maintained our grounds with mowing, weeding, and watering. We also picked up lots of community donations.

Friday Night Social
We wrapped up the week with our Friday night social at Nambour for the Sundale Christmas Carols, featuring free rides, fireworks and food trucks.

Support in Employment
Our Op Shop is thriving with sorting and selling woodworking items for the holiday season. Come check out the fantastic work our team is doing!

Arlie’s Shed Weekly Update!

This week, we celebrated Ryley’s birthday, a wonderful little party that reminded us all how quickly the year has flown by - it's hard to believe it’s already the 1st of December!

Woodworking & Trades
In our woodworking area, we’ve been busy utilising the slab master to prep camphor laurel for beautiful cutting boards. We also dedicated time to cutting more wood to enhance our garden area.

Arts, Crafts and Learning
Our arts and crafts sessions have been buzzing with festive creativity. This week, participants made Christmas ornaments, wreaths and even sewed Christmas stockings for both their homes and our shop. We embraced the holiday spirit with colourful decorations while enjoying games, pool, card games, and lively karaoke, making it a week filled with laughter and fun.

Thursday Social
For our Thursday social outing, we ventured to Rainbow Beach, where we enjoyed a refreshing swim and a delicious BBQ lunch. Everyone made sure to keep sun smart throughout the day and we had a fantastic time walking along the sandy shores and playing in the park.

Cooking
In the kitchen this week, we prepared some delicious homemade meals, including chicken fried rice, chicken stroganoff and spaghetti and meatballs. For afternoon tea, we created delightful reindeer cupcakes and bliss balls, adding a festive touch to our treats! Participants practiced valuable skills like list-making, shopping for ingredients, meal preparation, knife skills and money handling.

Support in Employment
Our Op Shop is bustling as we sort and decorate for the Christmas season. Additionally, Sam and Jordan’s car detailing service is thriving! With Christmas approaching, now is the perfect time to book an appointment for a thorough car clean.

Gardening
We also dedicated time to getting out in community through our gardening efforts. Our team participated in a job where we focused on mowing, whipper snipping, pruning, weeding and blowing leaves to keep the their area tidy. We gathered potting mix and picked up donations from the community, helping to enrich our garden.

Friday Night Social
We wrapped up the week with our Friday night social after the bowling league, heading to Cooroy RSL for a delightful dinner and an evening of dancing to a live band. It was a fun night filled with camaraderie and great music.

Saturday Social
Our Saturday social trip took us to HQ Zoo and the Big Pineapple, where we explored and enjoyed the sights of the animals. It was a memorable outing that brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

Arlie’s Shed Weekly Update!

This week, we celebrated John’s birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN! Marking another joyful occasion in our vibrant community. It’s hard to believe how quickly this year has flown by!

Arts, Crafts and Learning
Our arts and crafts sessions were buzzing with creativity as we made Christmas cards and ornaments, along with beautiful wreaths for both home and the shop. Holiday decor was in full swing this week! Participants had fun engaging in games and at the pool table and super fun karaoke, ensuring our creative space was alive with laughter. We also worked on more siena print band T-shirts, showcasing the artistic talents of our participants.

Woodworking & Trades
In woodworking, we continued creating wood pieces for the art room, preparing for the festive decorations ahead. We also focused on cutting wood for upcoming upgrades in our garden area. The excitement of working on these projects brings out the best in everyone!

Cooking
In our cooking program, we saw a surge of excitement as participants prepared delicious homemade meals, including chorizo pasta, an array of cold meats and salads and a delightful mango trifle amongst other winner meals. We are getting our recipes ready for the Christmas season! This week also focused on vital skills such as list-making, shopping for ingredients, meal preparation, knife skills and money handling. It’s a wonderful way for everyone to enhance their culinary abilities and help out with their own cooking skills at home!

Gardening
As part of our commitment to upkeep, we focused on maintaining our property through mowing, whipper snipping, pruning and blowing. We also made sure to tidy up the steps and driveway with a pressure wash, keeping our space inviting. In a creative recycling effort, we collected our 10c bottles and made some extra cash and also built a timber surround for our potting mix- proving that sustainability is a priority at Arlie’s Shed.

Support in Employment
Our Op Shop is booming this week, with lots of sorting and decorating as we prepare for the Christmas season. Additionally, Sam and Jordan’s car detailing service is going great guns! If you’re in need of a clean car before Christmas, don’t hesitate to reach out and schedule an appointment, such a great easy way to give back to the community.

Thursday Social
For our Thursday social outing, we visited the Gympie Aquatic Centre for a day filled with water slides and swimming. Everyone enjoyed the fun activities while keeping sun smart throughout the day. We also had a lovely picnic lunch, making it a perfect summer outing for all!

Friday Night Social
We ended the week with our Friday night social, which followed our bowling league. We headed to Tin Can Bay Country Club for a delightful dinner and had an energetic evening of dancing to a live band. The atmosphere was filled with joy and great company, making for a another memorable night!

Arlie’s Shed Weekly Update!

This week at Arlie’s Shed has been filled with creativity and community spirit as we gear up for the holiday season. Our programs have been bustling with energy, and there is so much to share!

Woodworking & Trades
In woodworking, participants continued crafting wood pieces destined for the art room, which will be transformed into beautiful Christmas decorations. We also focused on solo projects, creating entryway key holders that will be decorated in the art room.

Arts, Crafts, and Learning
In our arts and crafts sessions, the holiday spirit came alive. Participants made delicious cupcakes and Christmas ornaments, along with creating Christmas-themed products for the shop. This week, we also designed house key hanger villages for charming Christmas decor. Our participant run literally program was another hit. As always, we enjoyed plenty of games, pool, card games, and fun karaoke sessions, ensuring creativity goes hand in hand with enjoyment!

Thursday Social
This week’s Thursday social took us to the beautiful Noosa River, where we enjoyed bird watching during our walks, some refreshing swimming, and a delightful picnic lunch. To top it all off, we were treated to a free live band, adding a musical touch to our day in the great outdoors. It was a memorable day filled with nature and camaraderie.

Cooking
In the kitchen, our cooking program has been thriving with the preparation of some mouthwatering homemade meals. This week, we made loaded baked potatoes, sweet and sour pork, and even created homemade pizzas from scratch, including making the dough! For a sweet treat, we baked melting moments biscuits. Participants practiced essential skills, including list-making, shopping for ingredients, meal preparation, knife skills, and handling money—making our cooking sessions both educational and delicious!

Gardening
In our gardening area, we dedicated time to the upkeep of our amazing location. The team diligently mowed, whipper snipped, and blew leaves to keep our grounds looking pristine. We also ventured out into the community to provide garden care for supports in employment, making a positive impact where it’s needed.

Friday Night Social
We rounded out the week with our usual activities before heading off to participate in the bowling league. After our friendly competition, we enjoyed an evening of putting at Maroochy Mini Golf, followed by a delicious dinner. It was a perfect way to celebrate the end of a busy week!

Arlie’s Shed Weekly Update!

What a wonderful week we’ve had at Arlie’s Shed! Our time has been filled with creativity and fun as we dive into various programs and activities.

Woodworking & Trades
This week in woodworking, participants continued their work with camphor laurel boards and crafted wood pieces destined for the art room, where they will be transformed into beautiful Christmas decorations. The spirit of giving fills the air as we prepare for the holiday season & prepare Christmas presents.

Arts, Crafts and Learning
In our arts and crafts sessions, the creativity flowed with various festive projects. Participants made Santa ornaments and Christmas items for the shop, engaging in Christmas-themed beading activities. We also worked on cyanotype printing of our band shirts, combining art and music in a unique way! As always, there were plenty of games, including pool and card games, alongside karaoke sessions that brought joy and laughter to our time together.

Thursday Social
For our Thursday social outing, we enjoyed a fun day at the Gympie Aquatic Centre, where we splashed around and had a blast. Following our aquatic adventure, we gathered for a delicious BBQ lunch, enjoying tasty food and good company under the sun.

Cooking
In the kitchen, our cooking program produced some truly delicious homemade meals this week. We prepared chicken salad, sticky honey chicken, tuna mornay and pork roast with crackling, ensuring everyone enjoyed hearty and flavorful dishes. Participants practiced important skills like list-making, shopping for ingredients, meal preparation, knife skills and money handling. It’s amazing to see everyone's culinary skills grow!

Friday Night Social
We wrapped up the week with a delightful Friday night social that included fish and chips by the ponds. The evening was filled with laughter and joy as we enjoyed karaoke at Gunabul Homestead, creating a fun, relaxed atmosphere for everyone to let loose and have a great time.
