Arlie’s Shed Weekly Update!
What a fantastic week we’ve had in the shed and out in the community! With the weather getting warmer, we’re eagerly anticipating the start of our swimming program on Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays, which adds an extra layer of excitement to our activities!
Woodworking
This week in woodworking, we successfully delivered the Bunnings break room tables, and the feedback was incredible—they loved them! We also crafted camphor laurel hanging propagation stations as part of a crossover project with the gardening team, showcasing our collaborative spirit.
Arts, Crafts, and Learning
In the arts department, we continued working on our charming spring tin can bugs for the garden. We also began creating cement pumpkins in preparation for the upcoming Halloween season. Coloring remains a popular activity for everyone during our last session, along with engaging card games and puzzles that spark camaraderie and fun.
Thursday Social
For our Thursday social outing, we traveled to Boreen Point for a day filled with swimming, sea kayaking, and a delightful picnic. It was wonderful to enjoy the great outdoors, stay active, and bond while having fun in the sun!
Cooking
In our cooking sessions this week, we prepared some delicious homemade meals, focusing on essential skills such as list-making, shopping for ingredients, and money handling. Our menu included homemade chicken tenders, chicken Caesar wraps, and tasty picnic sandwiches paired with fresh fruit salad.
Op Shop & Supports in Employment
In the Op Shop, our team focused on money handling and providing excellent service to our customers while sorting through donations. Meanwhile, the car detailing crew was busy attending to all our booked vehicles, and the gardening group diligently tidied up our grounds, ensuring our space remains welcoming and beautiful.
Friday Fun Day
We kicked off Friday with our usual programs in the morning, enjoying the last week at Gunabul for golf driving range and lawn games. After indulging in delicious pizzas for lunch, we headed to Gympie Ten Pin to participate in the all-abilities bowling league. To close out the week, we gathered for dinner and karaoke at Gunabul Homestead, creating an unforgettable evening filled with laughter and song.
Saturday and Sunday Social
We wrapped up the weekend with two amazingly fun nights at the Gympie Speedway, where we watched the thrilling twists and turns of the cars as they raced. The excitement and energy of the event made for a fantastic outing, leaving everyone with lasting memories.
Thank you for being a valued part of our Arlie’s Shed family! Your ongoing support and participation help create a vibrant and engaging community. We can’t wait to share more adventures and updates with you next week!
Warm regards,
The Arlie’s Shed Team
