Arlie’s Shed Weekly Update!

What an exciting week we've had at Arlie’s Shed! Much of our energy this week was fueled by anticipation for our big Gold Coast trip. Our programs were rocking and bustling with activity, creating a vibrant atmosphere throughout the week.

Garden
In the garden, we focused on tidying up our space by giving our fence a fresh coat of paint and pressure washing the area to make it shine. We took great care of our plants as well, with our team busy hedging, mowing, and raking leaves to keep everything looking neat and beautiful.

Woodworking & Trades
Our woodworking crew continued working on camphor laurel hanging propagation stations as part of our collaborative project with the garden. Participants engaged in various solo projects, including restoring furniture and crafting thoughtful gifts for families, such as coasters and chopping boards. The creativity and craftsmanship on display are truly inspiring!

Arts, Crafts, and Learning
This week in the arts and crafts area, we created some exciting shadow boxes with lights, custom fridge magnets, and ventured into sewing and collage arts. Participants enjoyed games of pool and cards, as well as karaoke, filling our creative space with laughter and joy. It was a fantastic blend of fun and artistic expression!

Thursday Social
For our Thursday social outing, we headed to Mapleton for a scenic waterfall walk and a breathtaking lookout. The natural beauty of the area was a wonderful backdrop for our adventure, and we enjoyed a lovely social lunch in the park afterward, creating lasting memories together.

Cooking
In the kitchen, our cooking program produced some delicious homemade meals this week. We made lunch box pizzas and fresh salads, along with healthy Caesar salad wraps and grilled chicken tossed with pesto salad. Beetroot dip with veggie sticks added a tasty touch! Participants practiced essential skills such as list-making, shopping for ingredients, meal preparation, knife skills, and money handling, all while having a great time cooking together.

Gold Coast Trip
We wrapped up the week with an exhilarating trip to the Gold Coast! Our adventure included fun-filled days at Movie World and Paradise Country, where we enjoyed thrilling rides and met some amazing animals. We stayed at the Treasure Island Resort, creating unforgettable experiences that everyone appreciated.

Friday Night Social
To finish off the week, we had a fantastic Friday night social that included bowling and dinner at Mount Pleasant, followed by a visit to Mulligans Golf Simulator. It was the perfect way to unwind and enjoy each other’s company after such an eventful week.
