🌪 Council Update - Tropical Cyclone Alfred - 12:00pm 5 March, 2025
TC Alfred is now tracking west towards the SEQ Coast and is expected to make landfall between Maroochydore and Coolangatta early Friday morning.
⚠️The cyclone watch for our region has been cancelled, however a severe weather warning for damaging winds, hazardous surf, and heavy rainfall is in place for coastal areas, and the broader Gympie region.
While we have been spared the worst of TC Alfred's impacts, our region will still experience severe weather and heavy rainfall over coming days, so we ask residents to be prepared. How? See here: https://www.gympie.qld.gov.au/summersafety
♻️ Our waste management facilities and rubbish collection services are operating as normal however, we are keeping a close eye on the conditions and will keep the community updated over coming days.
🏊♀️ As a precaution, the Gympie Aquatic Recreation Centre, Kandanga Pool, Goomeri Pool, and Tin Can Bay Pool will be CLOSED tomorrow Thursday 6 March 2025, and will reopen when deemed safe. Contact the pools directly for more information.
🌱 The two w**d management workshops scheduled for this Friday and Saturday have been cancelled.
