The small details matter…
In Pilates, the difference between a c-curve (round back) and a hinge (flat back) might look subtle, but they work the body in different ways.
The c-curve flexes the spine, helping to build deep core and abdominal strength while improving spinal mobility. This is where we focus on that ‘scoop’ through the abdominals.
The hinge back keeps the spine long and stable, training strength and control through the back of the body as well. Still working deep core muscles here.

Neither position is better. They’re simply different. Both important because a healthy spine needs to be able to move in all different ways. This is one of the reasons Pilates feel so good for the body, it’s not just exercise; but it’s about learning to move your body well; with strength, control and awareness
