The small details matter…
In Pilates, the difference between a c-curve (round back) and a hinge (flat back) might look subtle, but they work the body in different ways.

The c-curve flexes the spine, helping to build deep core and abdominal strength while improving spinal mobility. This is where we focus on that ‘scoop’ through the abdominals.

The hinge back keeps the spine long and stable, training strength and control through the back of the body as well. Still working deep core muscles here.

Neither position is better. They’re simply different. Both important because a healthy spine needs to be able to move in all different ways. This is one of the reasons Pilates feel so good for the body, it’s not just exercise; but it’s about learning to move your body well; with strength, control and awareness

Girls Night at Liiv Well!! ✨

Strong, sweaty and SO much fun. We trialled out a new style of class, Pilates to the beat 🎶

There were balloons flying. Wine popping.
And lots of laughs. Best way to spend a Friday night!!!

And everyone got a cute little gift bag to take home with grip socks, chocolate and an eye mask 🙈

We’re adding two new 5pm classes to the Liiv Well timetable starting next week. We know that 5 o'clock time between work and dinner can be the perfect moment to move your body and reset for the evening.

Yoga Flow with Bonnie; Mondays 5pm
A flowing, energising yoga class that helps you stretch, breathe and move after a busy day. And yes Yin Yoga is still on at 6pm afterwards if you wanted to stay on for a slower unwind...

Mat Pilates with Amber (our new instructor!); Tuesdays 5pm
A strong but controlled full body Pilates class focusing on core strength and stability. You'll feel longer, stronger and energised after this class.

Both incredible options for you to move your body after a long day.

Our beautiful instructor Ella is currently 24 weeks pregnant, and she’s been continuing with Pilates throughout her pregnancy with a few thoughtful modifications along the way.

Pregnancy changes your body in so many ways; and moving well through that time can make a big difference. Pilates can help support your changing body by improving posture, maintaining strength, and creating space to breathe and move more comfortably. Because we’ve had quite a few mums-to-be in the studio recently, we’re excited to be launching a small specialised Pregnancy Pilates course at Liiv Well.

Pregnancy Pilates will be running in six week blocks on Tuesdays at 4pm with exercise physiologist, Amber Leveque. With only six women in the class, you'll get highly personalised attention and modifications for your stage of pregnancy.

Suitable for any trimester and no, you don't need to have Pilates experience either. If you’re expecting, or know someone who is, send us a message to express interest and we’ll send through the details.

To celebrate Mindful March, we're running three special events all with completely different energies, depending on what you need.

Girls Night!, Fri 13th; from 4:30pm

Breath + Nidra, Friday 20th, 6 - 7pm

Sweat & Flow, Sat 21st 1 - 3pm

These are not just classes. They're like little pockets of time where you can laugh, rest, reset, move and connect with yourself and others; these events lend themselves perfectly to catching up with friends! Or hang out with the amazing Liiv Well community.

The Wunda chair (no we didn’t make up the name, this is its actual name!!!) might look simple and even easy; but that is totally deceptive.

We asked a few people at the end of our Active Ageing class what they loved;

“ I love using the weights”
“I’m not strong… but I’m getting stronger”
“It slows things down and explains more”
“I have to work hard… but it’s happening”

This class is about:
Lifting safely
Moving with confidence
Building bone density
Improving balance.
And community of course.

When she came to us after surviving a life threatening spinal injury and leaving the army after 16 years, Candace wasn’t sure what movement or exercise might look like.

Fast forward to today; Candace is just a few classes away from reaching the 250 club having done 222 classes since joining and has never felt stronger, physically or mentally.

And the best part? The community. The coffees (or wines 🥂!) The catch ups. the people.

After being discharged from the army with a spinal injury, Candace wasn’t sure what movement and exercise might look like for her again.

Candace is coming up to 250 classes at Liiv Well Pilates; and she’s now stronger than ever, both mentally and physically.
