The peacocks around the Verrierdale clinic are in full voice right now - colourful, confident, moving with purpose.

Spring does that to all of us in some way.
You might feel the pull to stretch more, walk more, do more - even if you’re not fanning your feathers quite so dramatically.

This season is all about reawakening. Moving how you want to move. Trusting your body’s rhythm.

And if anything feels out of step along the way - that’s where we come in.
Let’s make sure you can keep moving freely, and enjoy whatever spring brings your way 🌿

True or False Tuesday 🌟

Today's question: Does the word 'osteopathy' comes from Greek, meaning 'bone suffering'?
We’d love to know - have you ever wondered what it means?

👉 Answer: True!
'Osteon' means bone, and 'pathos' means suffering or disease. When osteopathy was first developed by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still in the 1800s, the focus was on how the structure of the body affects its overall function - and how imbalance can lead to discomfort or illness.

But don’t let the name fool you - osteopathy isn’t just about bones or pain relief.

It’s a holistic, hands-on approach that looks at the whole person: muscles, joints, circulation, nerves, and how everything works together. Many people see osteopaths not because they’re in pain, but to stay well, move better, and prevent issues before they start 🙌

Part three: Calves + Feet with the spiky ball 🦶🔥

This is the final video in our three-part series on using a spiky ball to release common areas of tension.

Today, we’re focusing on the feet and calves – two areas that work hard for you every day, whether you're walking, running, training, or standing for long hours.

In this reel, Ramona walks you through a few simple ways to use the spiky ball to release tightness and improve how your lower legs and feet feel and move.

This may help:
✔️ Ease foot and calf tightness
✔️ Improve ankle mobility
✔️ Support better movement from the ground up

Perfect for anyone who’s on their feet a lot, wears tight shoes, or just wants to give their lower legs a little love. All you need is a spiky ball and a few minutes.

Try it out and let us know how it feels! 😊
And don’t forget to save this one – your feet will thank you later.

If you come to our Verrierdale clinic, there's a good chance you’ve been greeted, sniffed, or supervised by Bon.

He’s not on the payroll, and he’s not always here - but when he is, you’ll know.
He might greet you with a tail wag, hang back and observe, or quietly lie nearby while you settle in.

Bon’s not in a rush.
He doesn’t need you to perform, explain, or be “'on.'
He comes and goes as he pleases, trusts his instincts, and somehow always finds the best spot to sit.

Around here, Bon reminds us of a few important things:
That healing doesn’t always look structured.
That presence can be quiet.
That being grounded might involve getting your paws a little dirty.

We think that’s the kind of energy worth welcoming - in a dog, and in ourselves 🐾 ✨

This is the second video in our three-part series showing you how to use a spiky ball to release common areas of tension.

Today, we’re focusing on the glutes and low back – two areas that often feel tight from sitting for long periods, running, lifting, or just everyday stress.

In this video, Ramona demonstrates three simple spots you can work into with the spiky ball lying on a firm surface like the floor.

This may help:
✔️ Relieve tight hips and glutes
✔️ Ease low back tension
✔️ Support better posture and movement

Just a few minutes here can make a big difference - especially if you’ve been sitting a lot or feeling stiff in your hips and lower back.

Give it a go and let us know how it feels 😊
And don’t forget to save this one for the days your lower back or hips are asking for a little TLC.

Next week: calves + feet – useful if you're on your feet a lot 👣

Osteo isn’t just what happens in the room - it’s also how you ease into and out of it.

A little space around your appointment can help your body integrate the work ✨

Ever wondered what you can actually do with a spiky ball?

This is part one of three short videos showing you how to use a spiky ball to release common areas of tension.

We're starting with the shoulders - an area that often gets tight from long hours at a desk, stress, or upper body workouts.

In this video, Ramona shares three easy spots to target with the spiky ball - using either a wall or the floor, depending on what feels right for your body.
This may help:
✔️ Ease shoulder and neck tightness
✔️ Improve mobility
✔️ Reduce general tension or stiffness

All you need is a firm spiky ball, a wall or floor, and a couple of minutes.

Give it a try and let us know how it feels 😊
And save this reel so it’s handy for the next time your shoulders need a little attention.

Stay tuned for next week’s reel: low back and glutes.

True or False: Osteopathy can help improve athletic performance

True: Osteopaths work with athletes to fine-tune movement, enhance recovery, and prevent injuries - helping you perform at your best, naturally 💪

When your osteo gives you exercises, it’s not just about getting through them - it’s about how you do them. Holding your breath or rushing can create unnecessary tension and reduce the effectiveness of the movement.

Instead, move mindfully: exhale on the effort, inhale on the ease.
Good breathing supports better control, better results, and a calmer nervous system 🙌
