Had a quick trip to Brisbane over the weekend to deliver a workshop on behalf of Massage and Myotherapy Australia, to a keen bunch of Remedial Massage Therapists.

╰☆☆ Lipoedema and Chronic Health Considerations in Massage Practice: Integrating Care for Complex Clients ☆☆╮

Thank you to Massage and Myotherapy Australia for the opportunity to share my knowledge. Ryan, our Ambassador, did a fantastic job of facilitating and made sure I stopped for a coffee and that things ran smoothly. Our unofficial Ambassador, Rachel, also assisted.

Looking forward to delivering the next workshop in Melbourne on Sunday 12 October.

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮 𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝟮 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰?

Then you may be interested in the new draft guidelines by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence set to introduce a major shift. They recommend moving away from the old “one-size-fits-all” approach toward personalised treatment.

Here’s what you need to know:
•SGLT-2 inhibitors are now recommended as first-line options alongside metformin

•GLP-1 receptor agonists may be offered earlier in the treatment pathway, particularly for:
•People with established cardiovascular disease
•Individuals diagnosed at a younger age (early-onset diabetes)
•Control blood sugars and prevent serious complications - heart attacks, kidney disease, strokes
•Broader goals include rolling out digital care and continuous glucose monitoring

✨ Why this matters:
•Earlier access to medications that protect heart and kidney health
•A move toward more tailored, equitable care
•Encouragement to talk with your healthcare provider at your next review about the treatment plan that’s right for you

Spa lymphatic massage = relaxation 🌸
Medical lymphatic drainage = treatment for swelling & medical conditions 🩺

Both have their place. The key is seeing the right person for the right reason.

•---» Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is more than a gentle massage «---• —
MLD is a clinical therapy designed to reduce swelling, support recovery, and improve wellbeing.

But safe MLD always begins with a thorough health history. A qualified therapist will check for underlying conditions such as heart disease, vascular issues, or infection, to make sure treatment is safe and effective for you. They will drill down and find your "why" for your oedema and develop a safe and effective treatment plan for you.

💜 Your health is your wealth. Trust your care to someone who understands the bigger picture.

Our Story

Welcome to my page! I am a Remedial Massage Therapist with a passion for treating clients with compromised and serious health conditions. I could have chosen to study Physiotherapy but instead went down the path of Remedial Massage because after working in medical admin for over 20 years, it was clear that people undergoing treatment of life threatening conditions were lacking touch. People can be fearful of “touch” when their loved one is so frail and unwell. Quite quickly I went on to specialise in massage for oncology clients which led me to study the management of lymphoedema, lipoedema, pre and post surgery massage to help prevent and or relieve oedema including liposuction.

I am a member of the Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA) and the National Lymphology Practitioner Register (NLPR), Oncology Massage Limited and Massage & Myotherapy Australia and hold a current and updated Trainer and Assessor qualification.

It is very rewarding to have the skillset to make a profound difference to someone’s quality of life. A large percentage of my client base have had, or are undergoing, treatment for cancer; lymphoedema; lipoedema; fibromyalgia; chronic illness; stress; “text-neck”pain; headaches; venous problems. My qualifications include Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy (Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Compression Garment fitting, bandaging for lymphoedema), Oncology Massage, massage for pre and post-surgery, Pregnancy Massage, ArōmaTouch Technique. I incorporate ASEA and Renu28 with amazing results into my treatment regimen for scar management, skin problems and wounds. I also use dōTERRA essential oils in my massage protocols. During your consultation it is my goal to not only treat you but to empower you with education on strategies for self-management saving you time and money. I am hopeful that you will leave my rooms feeling confident that you can implement these resources. Of course, I am very happy to see you for required follow up and will liaise with your medical team. If your group would like an educational session, please get in touch. This would include topics on compression, diaphragmatic breathing, self-massage for lymphoedema/lipoedema, use of sequential pneumatic compression pump, etc.

I look forward to helping you on your way to better health and wellness, feeling younger and looking younger.
