How sweet it has been for the past 8 weeks to meet online with others dedicating time to themselves through the art of yoga.

We’ve explored stability and calm through deepening awareness with one’s inner terrain of their physical body and the elements pertaining to the main chakra systems. Calm breathing, calm body, calm mind, calm energy.

It’s such a privilege to come together online and enable people to explore yoga for themselves in their own space. I am grateful to each person for this opportunity to continue sharing the sacred gift of yoga.

Happy Wednesday evening to you 🌻

We’re up to week 5 of the 8 week series of live online yoga sessions on Wednesday afternoons.

The sessions focus on the fundamental principle for Asana - steadiness & ease, along with containment & preservation of energy. We’re touching on education around Chakras and diving into awareness of calm healthy breathing.

A delicious journey of inner listening.

Upcoming classes - here’s a teeny weeny insight into the functional breathing component.

I like to describe functional breathing as the art of breathing in a natural, healthy manner.

While we are born with our bodies knowing how to do this, our nervous systems often adapt as we age. Years of accumulated stress can train our bodies to favour a fight-or-flight response over the restorative rest-and-digest state. Also, for some women, physical changes like pregnancy can also play a role; abdominal pressure can alter the diaphragm’s natural rhythm creating skewed muscular patterns over time.

Another factor that may impact breathing are the following words people say to help calm us in times of stress “Just take a deep breath.”

And as we know, words have potency.

Often these words are interpreted as ‘mentally forcing a breath’ with our mind ‘ordering’ our body to take a breath.

Years ago, I began to notice forcing a deep breath when someone would tell me to ‘just take a deep breath’ unhelpful and in doing so did not feel good for my body. It seemed to be just another form of tension. And it is.

These words often end up making us mentally force a breath that is contrived with our mind ordering the body to breathe rather than stepping back and letting the body lead.

I believe a more effective approach with words is to shift the focus toward awareness. I prefer to offer guidance with these words:- become aware of yourself breathing, steady your breath, be with a calm way of breathing.

So my classes aim to help you reacquaint yourself with the art of natural and healthy breathing, which, in turn, influences energy.

Through becoming aware of your current breathing tendencies and offering experiential inquiries with specific gentle physical exercises into how natural and healthy breathing may feel for you, you will start to know this for yourself.

The more we focus our minds into observing the experience of steady calm breathing the more this will become a familiar and comfortable way of being.

8 week series

Begins Wednesday 4th February

The classes in this series will incorporate:

- functional breathing & awareness of the subtle breath

- traditional yoga asana taught slowly and steadily with an emphasis on where to focus your mind

- relaxation

- time for reflection

Yoga in the early evening is designed to help you unwind and relax any tension built up throughout the day which may lead to a more peaceful and calm evening and sleep.

This regular and consistent practice can form part of your own self-care strategy to support a healthy foundation for every-day life. What you learn here you keep forever.

Bookings required.
Cost - 8 class block $160
Payment required by first class.
Book and pay for the number of classes you know you will attend.
No refund applies so please consider carefully your commitment to the dates you book to attend.

We had the most beautiful morning for yoga at Sunflower Day on Mooloo Farm! 🌻

It was a true pleasure to share gentle movement, mudra, mantra and meditation with such a wonderful community, and connect with nature surrounded by the incredible country vista. Thank you to all who came to share yoga.

A heartfelt thank you to Noel, Debbie, and Mackenzie Granshaw for hosting us on their regenerative farm. Your generosity made this special event possible. Thanks to everyone who came along, the funds raised from Sunflower Day on Mooloo Farm went to two very important local organisations: Little Haven Palliative Care and the Supporting Chemotherapy in Cooloola organisation.

It’s a gift to see how we can all come together to make a difference.

Hope to see you all for Sunflower Day on Mooloo Farm in 2026!

Aaah, happy Saturday.

I’m by the ocean soaking up the early morning vista of pre-sunrise.

I’ve taken a gentle walk along the path to find a spot to welcome myself to this moment and honour the vital energies surrounded by nature with my morning ritual of yoga.

How delightful it is to chant Gayatri Mantra towards the horizon.

The sound of the ocean permeates. The sky is speckled with glistening stars. The moon glows brightly. The delicate sea breeze flows across my body.

The tide is out so I shall save my ocean dip for this afternoon.

I’m in Lennox Heads and looking forward to spending these next seven days participating in insightful courses Restoring your Prana & Functional Breathing with Robin Rothenberg.

How fortunate for all who will be attending that Robin has come to Australia from Seattle to share her teachings.
