Bodhicitta (pronounced body-cheetah) consists of two Sanskrit words, ‘bodhi’ meaning ‘wisdom’ or ‘enlightenment’ and chitta or citta meaning ‘heart’ or ‘mind’. Therefore, bodhichitta means the ‘enlightened mind’ or the awakening of the enlightened mind. It is described as the path of selfless enlightenment and profound compassion for all of humankind and is extended to all by wishing them to attain enlightenment for the sake of their happiness. Yoga is an awareness of the body, using physical poses or Asanas, Breathing Techniques or Pranayama and Meditation to achieve better physical and mental health as well spirituality. There are many styles of Yoga in the West, at Bodhicitta Yoga our focus is Hatha Yoga, but really all Yoga is Yoga regardless of its name or style. In Yoga the body is consciously acknowledged, listened to and treated with respect and our focus on the breath is an important part of our practice, together with the movement. Therefore Bodhicitta Yoga classes are a great way to enhance your own inner wisdom and enlightenment by bringing health to your heart, mind and physical body which will be the greatest gift to yourself and others around you.
