Yoga in Nature

Yoga in Nature Friendly Yoga classes and mini retreats suitable for all.

A place to come to move and breath a little better and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Halls Gap and the Grampians National Park I teach yoga that focuses on safe, gentle and mindful alignment of yoga postures that can be easily modified for students of all genders, ages and stages. I encourage a practice that is helpful for real bodies that can help alleviate stress and improve mental and emotional wellbeing. My classes incorporate the postures to stretch and move but also focus on breath work, meditation and relaxation.

Amazing words that really resonate with me this morning. Simone from Somah Journeys I SOSA has a nack of saying the right thing at the right time! She is also offering her Yoga Nidra trainings if interested.

You were designed to feel what was happening in your village —
your family, your immediate circle.
That’s it.

Just like animals in nature stick close to their pack,
follow the sun,
and stay connected to what’s right in front of them.
Present. Attuned. Grounded in place.

Your nervous system evolved to process what it could act on:
a child crying nearby,
a sudden storm,
the energy shift when someone enters the room.

But now?

You wake up to five different apps.
You witness the heartbreak of a stranger in Palestine,
a friend’s divorce in Australia,
what someone ate for lunch in Berlin.
You scroll through opinions from twelve people you’ll never meet.
A stranger is angry online.
There’s a new crisis. A new law. A new pesticide in your food.

And all of this —
before your first sip of tea.

This isn’t too much because you’re weak or “too sensitive.”
It’s too much because it’s unnatural.

Your body wasn’t built for constant global grief.
Or 150 emotional notifications a day.
Or carrying the lives of people you can’t touch, help, or hold.

This flood of tragedy, urgency, opinion, and noise —
it’s not neutral. It builds.

And when you try to disconnect by scrolling
or watching something “mindless,”
you’re still feeding your system more input.

So if you feel like you’re drowning,
it’s not because something is wrong with you.
It’s because your system can’t breathe.
It never processes. It just floods… silently.

Not because you’re broken —
but because you’re wise.
Because some part of you remembers a different rhythm —
where less was known,
but more was felt. Fully. Locally. Present.

What you’re calling burnout or overwhelm
might just be your body whispering:

"I wasn’t made for this pace.
Please… slow down"

Well, what a weekend at the beautiful Freycinet Lodge for a Yoga Retreat like no other. More amazing than I could ever have imagined. Time to move more, immerse in nature (so many national geographic moments, did I mention we saw whales?) and time to just enjoy the area, weather and food. Thank you to everyone who came along and those that helped me out. It was so good I may need to do it again next year, interested?
