Prostate Cancer Awareness Month 💙

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men, with around 25,000 men diagnosed each year. The good news is that it is highly treatable when detected early.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapists play an important role in supporting men before and after treatment, particularly with pelvic floor muscle training and bladder health strategies.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) is a fantastic resource, offering reliable information and access to Specialist Prostate Cancer Nurses across the country. Learn more at 👉 pcfa.org.au

This September, there are some excellent local events you can get involved in:

❄️ It’s cold out there! ❄️

I looked at the temperature before walking out for lunch and it was 8.5 degrees!

Did you find you needed to go to the toilet a little more often today? 🤔

For some people the cold weather can trigger a sudden bladder urge, or just make you go to the toilet a little more frequently than usual.

Don’t fear, there are helpful calming strategies your Pelvic Health Physio can teach you.

And hang in there, spring is just around the corner 🌸😎

🧡 World IVF Day 🧡

It’s taken me all day to find the words for this. This is deeply personal. But it feels important—because fertility challenges are real, and often hidden.

Today World IVF Day is celebrated, acknowledging the incredible medical and scientific work that lead to the birth of the first IVF baby in 1978. This work has provided so many with the opportunity to become parents. But IVF is not easy, not by a long shot.

As a Pelvic Health Physio, I’ve walked alongside many women navigating IVF. I’ve treated pelvic floor pain that made procedures unbearable. I’ve helped calm irritated bladders, tight muscles, and overwhelmed nervous systems—often caused by stress, hormones, and the sheer emotional load.

✨ IVF is not a guarantee. It’s an act of courage. A leap of hope. Many endure the journey with no baby at the end. And all the while—life continues. You go to work after a 7am scan. You sit through meetings with post-egg collection pain. You scrape together thousands for another round. And often, you do it silently.

To anyone who has been through IVF, is in the thick of it, or about to begin—I salute you. You are a warrior. Your strength is profound.

And to the amazing Fertility Specialists, Embryologists, Nurses, GPs, Counsellors, Pharmacists, and all who walk this path with compassion—thank you.
