Safe pregnancy abdominal exercises can be simple, effective and easy to fit into your day 🤍

Staying gently active during pregnancy helps you feel stronger, move better and supports your recovery after birth. These exercises focus on supporting your growing body — not pushing through discomfort.

Busy week at work, 32 weeks pregnant, and all the feels…reflux, back pain, abdominal and pelvic heaviness, and why not throw in a few Braxton Hicks contractions!

So I utilised my lunch break to lay down, close my eyes and breathe, and may have even napped for a few minutes! Just what was needed to get through the rest of the day.

Every pregnancy journey is different. Listen to your body, it’s performing an incredible feat in growing a baby! Your doing amazing 🤩

Your body has done something incredible 🤍
After birth, the perineum needs time, gentleness and care to heal — and every recovery looks different.

Simple supports like rest, cooling, warm sitz baths, and gentle movement can help ease discomfort and support healing in those early weeks. If you’ve had stitches, tearing, or ongoing soreness, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

A Pelvic Health Physiotherapist can gently guide scar care, pain relief and pelvic floor recovery, helping you feel more comfortable and supported as you move through the fourth trimester.

Be kind to yourself. Healing takes time, and support is here when you need it 🤍

Back mobility in pregnancy 🤍

I filmed this at 28 weeks pregnant after a long work week when my mid and low back were feeling sore and stiff — I just needed to move.

This gentle mobility sequence brought so much relief ✨

A reminder that exercise in pregnancy is recommended and has benefits for both mum and baby — but what exercise looks like can change as pregnancy progresses. Modifications matter.

A few important pointers:
• Avoid overheating
• Choose a comfortable, temperature-controlled environment
• Use the talk test — you should be slightly puffed but still able to speak in sentences
• Always check with your obstetrician before starting new exercise
• Avoid weighted bars over the pregnant belly (single hand weights are a safer option for overhead work)
• Reduce heavy loads and increase reps instead

And most importantly — every body and every pregnancy is different 🤍

Exercise should always be individualised and feel supportive, not exhausting.

If you’re unsure what’s right for you, a pelvic health physio can help guide you safely through pregnancy and beyond.
