Many people around us struggle with invisible autoimmune disease, with around 1 million people in Australia affected. More than 100 types exist, affecting the body's cells and organs. These conditions are more prevalent in women and are among the fastest-growing chronic diseases in Australia. 😢🦋💜

🐱 We’re happy to share that our Melton Pound facility is now fully open from today, Monday 23 March.
Our incredible team have done an outstanding job containing the Feline Parvovirus outbreak.
🐾 Due to the deep clean, the shelter is in need of towels and blankets to keep our furry friends comfortable and warm. If you’d like to help, donations of these items are welcome.

Come and find your new best friend:
📍 Melton Pound, 90-92 High Street, Melton

🤩🥳 Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting our Cobblebank Community Services Hub (permanent name not finalised yet) as it reached a milestone in construction.
This future six level building will have essential services including education, health, employment services, family violence prevention and support, and support for refugees and vulnerable residents. This is a vital asset for our community and I am extremely proud to see it on its way to completion. 🤩 City of Melton

Yesterday we said goodbye to beautiful Margaret. 🩷
Margaret was always the first to welcome me at RSL events and excelled in making all people feel welcome, comfortable and cared for in every area of her life. She made a tangible contribution of care to our City and will be greatly missed. 🩷

Help us name the community building being built in Diggers Rest.

The new building will support the growing needs of our Diggers Rest community and will include Kindergarten facilities, Maternal and Child Health services, a Library Lounge and a space for the community to use.
Vote on the naming theme and let us know what you think it should be called. Later this year, we’ll come back with a shortlist for the community to vote on.
Naming consultation closes on Friday 3 April 2026: https://conversations.melton.vic.gov.au/naming-diggers-rest-childrens-and-community-centre-building

What do you think would be a great name for the new Aquatic and Leisure Centre?
We’re asking residents to vote on their favourite naming theme and share their own name ideas. Later this year, we’ll come back with a shortlist for the community to vote on.
The Aquatic and Leisure Centre is set to open in 2028 and will bring aquatic and fitness facilities, allied health services, and community meeting spaces together under one roof.
Naming consultation closes on Friday 27 March 2026.

Julie Shannon

I’m a wife, mum and grandmother. I live, work and volunteer in Coburn ward Melton. My life experiences have trained me well in small business, education, retail, hospitality, not for profit and faith based activities. For over 25 years I have been on various industry and not for profit boards which has taught me how to appreciate diversity and not be threatened by opinions. A group of people can reach a consensus to actually get the job done. I will listen, act and deliver for the people of Melton.
