This was a wedding with several COVID false starts, irreverence, high emotions and just old fashion fun. Thank you to Mark and Shane for allowing me to conduct their ceremony at the gorgeous venue of the Hamilton Institute of Rural Learning. I wish them all the very best for their life together in their newly adopted home town of Hamilton.

This was one of my most special days as a marriage celebrant. I have known Jarrod and the Dawson family for over 20 years, presided over the funeral of his best mate Glenn Miles and was just delighted when his fiancé, Leah asked me to create a ceremony for their wedding, for what was a most special day. Then COVID hit and we had to reorganise and represent ourselves on Saturday afternoon after a twelve month interlude. What a wedding it was! Relaxed, emotional and surrounded by much love from their family and friends. Congratulations to them both and the kids were so proud to be pronounced “the Dawson Family”!

Thanks for the shout out - great job to you both!

I ventured to the Barn in Mount Gambier to a wonderful autumn wedding ceremony for Marcus Devereux and Kate Bruce-smith. They are both a force of nature and shared their story with much love and support from their friends and family. With son Harvey, they have officially become the Devereux family and l’m sure will continue their life together with the same fun and love that they have demonstrated so far. Thanks so much for allowing me to tell your story and to preside over your special day.

It was a very warm January day in Patrick’s of Coonawarra’s garden that was the backdrop to Roger and Stacey’s Wedding. It was a ceremony punctuated by their stories as a couple and also as a family. An excellent day that was shared by the close friends and family. Thank you to Christy Radford for the photo and apologies for the late post but I was unable to get my own photo on the day and Christy was kind enough to oblige with one of her own shots.

It was a great privilege to conduct Jan’s Memorial Service yesterday. With COVID restrictions in place, her funeral last year was limited to a small number of family members. Yesterday was an opportunity for her family to celebrate her life, with all her friends, from all of her different communities.
Wonderful tributes, excellent stories and some beautiful music saw Jan out in style. Jan had a life that was well lived, and by yesterday’s turnout, where she was very well loved.

Last weekend saw me run the border gauntlet and preside over one of my old employees from my days when l ran my restaurant- Pipers of Penola. It was a truly wonderful day as Deb was walked down the aisle by her two boys William and Jamieson, who also then gave permission for Daddy to marry Mummy! Terry and Deb shared their personal story to family and friends, celebrating their marriage in their backyard at Moorak, SA as the venue.
It was just a thrill to catch up with Deb and her family. It was also very special as Terry’s Dad built Pipers for me 20 years ago. I have attached pictures of the family and l don’t always get a selfie with the bride but on this occasion it was super special. Congratulations to you both!

Hugh Koch - Celebrant

I became an authorised marriage celebrant after many years of assisting people celebrate their special moments in life as a master of ceremonies, event coordinator and caterer. Creating a special sense of occasion that is personal and individual gives me great satisfaction. I get great delight in telling people’s stories and developing their narrative to be told to family and friends on their most special of days. l look forward to assisting couples to create something bespoke that suits their personality and exceeds their expectations.

Although based in Hamilton, Victoria, I am available to conduct ceremonies across Western Victoria and into South Australia’s Limestone Coast. As a tourism executive that has worked across both states and former restauranteur, l have a great knowledge of all the magnificent natural backdrops and venues that could be appropriate for your wedding ceremony.

I am also a member of the Federation of Australian Civil Celebrants. I am available to act as a funeral celebrant but only with at least seven days notice due to my other work commitments. Please feel free to message me and l would be delighted to contact you to get an understanding of your individual needs and provide you with an obligation free quote.
