After a short pause over the Christmas and New Year period, our team is back and ready to support you.

We hope the break brought moments of rest, or simply a chance to slow down. As we step into the new year, we’re here to continue supporting your goals, growth and wellbeing.

We look forward to welcoming you back into our doors tomorrow!

Behavioural challenges are often linked to stress and difficulty regulating emotions, NOT “bad behaviour.”

Research shows that regular physical activity can reduce stress, support emotional regulation, and improve mood. For children on the autism spectrum, consistent movement has been associated with less frustration and fewer challenging behaviours.

Exercise releases endorphins, helping to calm the nervous system and reduce irritability.

At ECM, our Behavioural Specialists work alongside individuals and families to use movement as part of a broader, personalised approach to emotional regulation and behaviour support.

Schedule an appointment with Nick Exercise Physiologist through the link in our bio, to assist with your overall well- being.

Big feelings can be overwhelming, especially when they show up fast and loud. When emotions take over, the brain’s alarm system goes into overdrive, which is why reactions can feel automatic, intense, and hard to control.

That’s where “name it to tame it” comes in. When we pause and gently label what we’re feeling, the nervous system begins to settle, and the thinking part of the brain comes back online. Naming emotions creates space to breathe, reflect, and choose how we respond rather than react.

Our team of counsellors work alongside children, adolescents and adults to build self-awareness, emotional regulation, and practical strategies for navigating big feelings safely.

Therapy doesn’t start with quick fixes or one-size-fits-all answers. It starts with listening.

From the very first appointment, we take time to understand your journey, your strengths, challenges, experiences and goals. We gather the right information, ask the right questions, and work together to create meaningful, individualised goals that matter to you.

Behind the scenes, therapy is thoughtful, collaborative and intentional. It’s about building trust, adjusting along the way, and working as a team.

Progress looks different for everyone, and every step counts. Our team of Psychologists are here to walk alongside you.

With a little extra family time these holidays, parents have a wonderful opportunity to naturally reinforce speech and language development during everyday moments.

Speech pathology covers so much more than just speech sounds! At ECM, our Speech Pathologists support development across Speech, Language, Literacy, Fluency, Social communication, Swallowing & feeding, Voice, AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) and more!

Use these holidays to model language, expand your child’s words, and create rich communication moments at home.

The holiday season is full of little moments where parents can help build their child’s language, especially during calm, connected times like talking at the dinner table or sharing a festive activity together.

One simple and powerful strategy is expanding your child’s words. This gentle technique helps grow vocabulary, strengthen sentence structure, and encourage confident communication, without pressure or correction.

Christmas gives families a beautiful chance to slow down, talk, and connect. Every conversation is a chance to support your child’s language development.

For more speech and language strategies, reach out to ECM’s Speech Pathology team.

The Christmas season is often portrayed as 100% joy, but in reality, it’s rarely that simple. Family gatherings, and the holiday period can stir up a mix of emotions. And that’s okay.

This Christmas, try to:
→ Acknowledge your feelings without judgement
→ Step away when things feel overwhelming
→ Set boundaries that protect your wellbeing
→ Make space for both joy and discomfort
→ Offer compassion, to yourself and to others

The holidays affect everyone differently. You’re not alone in how you feel.

Please reach out if you need support.
